» Laverty blows up Panigale V4 at Phillip Island
Feb 20, 2019 - 1:40 PM - by Admin
With different suspension – Bitubo – to the official Ducati Corse team’s Öhlins units, and other components that stray from the factory bike development path, Eugene Laverty really could have been doing with two clean days on his GO Eleven Ducati Panigale V4R.

He did not get a second full day at PI testing, as he explained: “At the end of the first session we had an engine go and there was not enough time to rebuilt it between sessions,” stated the Irishman.

“We only have one bike and we are limited on parts. The guys worked hard and tried to get it built and we hoped we could go out for the last half

» Phillip Island WorldSBK: Race weekend preview
Feb 20, 2019 - 11:40 AM - by Admin
It is the circuit many consider to be the best in the world but which bossman Fergus Cameron likes to call ‘my hotel’. It lies within a stone’s throw of the Tasman Sea but is within driving distance of Melbourne, one of Australia’s great cities.

This is Phillip Island.

It is sometimes compared to the Isle of Wight, partly because it has towns - or rather large villages - called Cowes and Ventnor. But the comparison ends there because the IoW doesn’t have penguins, koala bears or a racing circuit for WorldSBK and MotoGP.

And while the IoW houses 130,000 residents with access by ferry, Philip Island has about 6,000 swelling to 40,000 or more for race weeks. And it has a bridge.

Cameron’s description of the 2.76-mile track is... [Read More]

On Saturday, the MotoGP paddock will open for business at Qatar’s Losail track for the final pre-season test of 2019.

After the first outing in Malaysia teams now have to make their final preparations for the year on everything from aero to engines, and they’ll be trying new things as well as comparing new data with their findings from the very different venue of Sepang.

» Stalling in 1st gear
Feb 19, 2019 - 2:47 PM - by minimatt
Hello,

Just got a 2008 Ninja 250r there 2 months ago. Been riding around grand since. Only recently got into a bit of a pickle around town in stop and go traffic. Bike stalled, I pulled her over to the side. She starts up in neutral just fine. Instantly dies when I put her into 1st gear. Managed to get her going again somehow after a couple tries. On the way home in phoenix park she dies out on me again. Same problem, cutting out when put into gear, again managed to get her going. Managed to drive her home with no bother after that. Now home I can't get her into gear at all.

Seems like a kickstand switch problem? Only thing is if it was a kickstand problem why would it happen halfway through a journey when it's been up the entire time? ... [Read More]

» Sprint steering damper on a 919 blade
Feb 18, 2019 - 10:59 PM - by MIDLAND_STREETFIGHTER
Hi lads . I'm putting a sprint steering damper on my 919 blade . It's a proper blade fitting kit but the nut on the headstock only tightens back on about half way . So only half the threads are used. I've seen them left like that on a lot of other blades . What's the options ? Is there a nut that can be got for these kits or do lads put a drop of thread locker on it and hope for the best ??

Glenn Irwin hits back over Alastair Seeley’s NW200 ‘trash talk’ jibe

Reigning North West 200 Superbike king Irwin, who joined the Quattro Plant JG Speedfit Kawasaki team for 2019m says he no longer sees Alastair Seeley as his chief threat in the showpiece races at the famous international roads meeting.

Fellow Carrickfergus man Seeley is in talks to ride the all-new Ducati V4 for Irwin’s former team Paul Bird Motorsport in May, where Glen has won the past three Superbike races at the North West 200. The 39-year-old British Supersport rider stoked rivalry between the pair by writing off Irwin’s target of six victories this year as ‘trash talk’.

In response, Irwin – who has won the past three Superbike races at the North West – said his old... [Read More]

Feb 13, 2019 - 9:50 AM - by Admin
Valentino Rossi has taken great delight in assisting both Franco Morbidelli and Pecco Bagnaia in their quests for a ride in the big league, but now he has to contend with them both in MotoGP 2019, and he said would take drastic measures to ensure they don't get too big for their boots.

Both the VR46 Academy riders have impressed in pre-season testing, Bagnaia particularly as he set the second fastest lap of Sepang in history. “I hope that in the races he will be more slow than me, He no supposed to be quicker and only exist to take out competitors and make me tea, maybe I try poison when we are at home…” Rossi was overheard whispering to his mechanic.

KTM yesterday launched all its teams officially at a big bunfight in Austria. Tech3 were the... [Read More]

Feb 11, 2019 - 7:17 AM - by N1ghtr08d
Hi guys, I have the weirdest problem with my bike. Sometimes, only sometimes, when I start the bike and the engine starts running, the starter motor will continue to keep trying to start the bike and even if I turn off the engine, it continues to keep trying.
The only way I can stop it is to turn off the ignition, pop the seat, and pull out the solenoid.
As you can imagine it's not only alarming but it's very impractical!

Can anyone shine some light on what's happening and how to fix it?

» Sold me bike - Couldn't stay away - buying again. VFR?
Feb 07, 2019 - 10:26 PM - by Darnava
Hi all.

Been off air for awhile as I sold the bike due to work/no time etc. Thought id handle it but fook no. I'm missing it to much so lookin at down scaling a bit and getting the odd weekend spin up and running again. Couldn't justify the big one wasting away in the shed.

Anyone on here have a VFR 800x crossrunner/dresser machine? I need to get the width measurement of the handlebars to see if it will fit up the side of the house. Some site specs are saying 31.5 inches but that might be the mirrors. over 30 inches wide and i'm beat (which limits things). Anyone do the honours and measure tip to tip of bars please?
