Oct 16, 2018 - 1:32 PM - by Rh4000
Have a 2002 Gsx1400, when I got it all the indicators and indicator relay & a taillight bulb were blown, no big deal, changed both tail light bulbs to new ones, got new indicators and an indicator relay, the front wiring to the headlight and indicators was all chopped and changed and just messy, housemate who's an electrical engineer tidied it all up, soldered it up and had it spot on.

Everything was grand, came out to the bike Friday and the dipped beam on the headlight was blown and one of the rear tail light bulbs was blown too.

What do ye think is causing this, any suggestions or ideas, bad earth somewhere I'm assuming?🤔

» Where to do advanced training etc
Oct 15, 2018 - 8:49 PM - by GONKO
As above lads and lassies. I'm wanting to take my riding up a notch and do some advanced training. Since passing my test, I still know I'm pretty green, but safe.
Id like to add so skills and ideas on how to stay safer etc.

Any recommendations. I was looking at Vespaiart.ie but doesn't seem to be much activity on there.

» how many mins before ya step on it
Oct 15, 2018 - 9:04 AM - by GONKO
So how many minutes is enough before high RPM riding. Last night my bike was idling for maybe 2-3 mins and then a 7 min ride or so before pulling on the dual carriageway and a friend of mine in a Corolla T Sport fancied his chances as its 'not even a litre' . So I wound the bike up to 11-12k rpm (redline is 15.5k) through one gear and then backed off. Would I have done any engine damage?
Normally I like to wait 10-15 mins of riding before stepping on the engine...
She just had an oil change yesterday too, fully synthetic oil.

» Temperature readings - 2005 ZX6R
Oct 15, 2018 - 8:54 AM - by GONKO
So a few weeks ago I picked up the ZX6R as some may recall.
Anyway, the temp gauge reads anywhere from 140-165F (60-74c) when on the move.
When I stop, the bike starts to climb in temperature quite quickly. I've not see it go beyond 212F (100c), this was when I was just idling the thing into the back garden.

Is this normal for this bike. It seems that when on the move its cooling off quickly, but once its stopped it gets hot quicker than I would have expected?

» Dubliner Jack Kennedy Wins the British Supersport title
Oct 13, 2018 - 9:05 PM - by Bimmer_e90
Jack Kennedy was crowned 2018 Dickies British Supersport champion in the opening race at Brands Hatch after a dominant season with the Integro Appleyard Macadam Yamaha squad.

Click the image to open in full size.

Had it not been for a mid-season testing injury, Kennedy would perhaps have cleaned up earlier having won an impressive 11 races this season, having finished no lower than second in any race he’s started.

» Logbook details were wrong
Oct 12, 2018 - 9:54 PM - by muzz_mm
Hey guys,

I'm in the middle of searching for my first bike and I viewed a great looking bike recently. A price was agreed and cash was transferred but upon a closer inspection, the engine number did not match the number in the logbook. The frame number was correct but not the engine.

I was devastated by this and proceeded not to go through with the sale, on the advice of a friend who was with me when viewing the bike. The owner was not upfront with this information.

Was I right to walk away?

» busa clocks and turn lights not working ?
Oct 12, 2018 - 7:42 PM - by acdc
busa clocks and turn lights not working, no tail light , the rear brake light went last week?? I checked all the connections for continuity and voltage and it was all ok so I suspect it could be just the dual led strip rear tail/brake light,

today:
I was driving up home and pulled in somewhere and when I got back on her and turned the ignition but no clocks and as above.

she has gixxer digital cluster and a Koso temp and fuel gauge, the turn lights are led with built-in load resistance, a bit 2 much I think as they stay on for only 10 seconds? I have a heap of new relays if that would make any difference.

the bike is driving and the hi/lo beams are working and the hi beam blue light, I think the fuses are grand, ob its a first port of... [Read More]

» Fuel consumption up post service
Oct 10, 2018 - 9:20 AM - by Dub Duke
I serviced the R6 - air filter (piper cross - previous std), new plugs, oil, oil filter + chain and sprockets.

Bike sounds a bit raspier with the piper air filter, is smoother - probably plugs mainly and is going well.

I've noticed that the fuel consumption is down circa 10% - thought maybe the heavier traffic heading into town post summer, but measured on weekends too.

Would the new air filter take in more air, meaning more fuel??

Maybe needs a remap? Any relevant (and/or funny) thoughts?

Looking to see if I could get a loan of a bike trailer from this Thursday lunchtime until Sunday night. Bike is a GTR 1400 so would need to be a decent size trailer if possible. Need to bring the cage down home with me too so. Any help would be appreciated and I'll throw a few quid your way too for the use!

I'm looking for the trailer to bring the bike from Dublin to Cork on Thursday and back to Dublin then on Sunday.

Hi guys,

What would be the best way to transport a bike from a seller back home? I was thinking of renting a bike trailer for the day and just using that myself. However I have never done this before and would be worried about securing the bike myself.

Would hiring a man with a van be a better option?

The journey would be about 2 hours and over motorway mainly.

Not a great pic - apologies. Is there any way to confirm if it's a surface scratch, or whether it's something more serious ?

Hi All,
Im trying to track down a BMW R60/5 which once belonged to my father. He brought it over from Holland to Ireland in 1980. I have no details of the year/registration/chassis number, but I know it was first imported into Ireland by a man called Paul Curley, than sold to a James Thompson, who than sold it to a man from Limerick. If anyone out there has owned a bike with those names on the registration cert, I would love to hear from you.
With thanks, Boudi
