Question Anyone export an imported bike??

Well lads

Anyone ever sell/export a bike to the UK, after it was originally a UK bike?

Did you claim VRT back on export? If so, how much hardship was it, did it take long to get the money, how did they pay it?

Also was there any hardship/cost involved in re-registering the bike in UK (assume it goes back on the original UK reg number)?

Haven't done a bike but have done a cage. You have to get an inspection before you go. They send out cheque based on that (they'll tell you the amount before you leave NCT centre). UK side very straight forward once you have the right form fill in, get mot and get plates printed. The cage did go back to original UK plates

I've done VRT reclaim for cages but I'm sure it has to be over 2K so I don't think it applies to bikes but I could be wrong .And it's a lot of hassle TBH .

ok cool apart from the vrt reclaim hassle, what hoops do you have to jump through to get it imported back into UK?

imagine it might be hard get it MOTd, taxed when you don't have english address?

Cheque took couple of weeks. I couldn't find the correct one online so just rung the DVLA in south Wales (think it's in Swansea). A nice man sent me out the form in the post had it in a couple of days.

I only sell to a dealer I know as it has to be registered and mot'd within 30days to the vrt refund .you would need an address in UK and usually you'd get the old reg no .
