Birmingham Motorbike show Chain and Sprockets

Heading over to the bike show in November and I was going to see if I could pick up a new Chain and Sprocket set among other things on my list Do you reckon that there would be an issue bringing it home through security in the airport ? Anybody done this before ? I want to get a new Lid, jacket and bottoms, I heard that there are great bargains to be had over there

Through carry on luggage I'd say they wouldn't allow it.

Re: Birmingham Motorbike show Chain and Sprockets

Brought a CNC machined S1000rr cylinder head and chain/sprockets back 2 years ago with Ryanair.
No issues what so ever getting them on as hand luggage.
Also brought back Giles rearsets and Renthal sprockets back last year along with an Arai helmet.
Again no issues at all.

Re: Birmingham Motorbike show Chain and Sprockets

I arranged to meet a well known BMW tuner at the show 2 years ago to buy the CNC head off him.
Still haven't fitted it yet though.....lol.
Plus for 5 euro (Ryanair sale) and free show entry, it was a bloody good day out.

I believe this year that overseas visitors to the bike show will have to pay 10 quid in.
So no more free entrances.

Yeah EBay for me these days.
A shop here in Dublin wanted 100 euro for 2 sparkplugs for my Honda Varadero. 1000
Got them off eBay UK via Parcel Motel for 35 euro all in.

Fucking daylight robbery in this country for parts.

Exactly most fellas would be grand but you'll end up with the one dope who thinks you'll use the chain as a weapon and there goes your saving.

It is the principal. It made it so welcoming to get in for free, like you were a VIP etc. Somehow paying 10 pounds in is not the same in my mind.

Brexit may put a stop on buying things anyway!!!

I find that if you ask certain retailers on Ebay for a discount or 10% off.....then they will give you the discount and send you a "PayPal me" link for the discounted amount.

It's allways worth asking for a discount.

1 example being the 2 NGK Iridium spark plugs here in Dublin for 100 euro....asked for best price, was told that was it.
So I said get the fucking boat......

Bought them off EBay for 35 euro including the Parcel Motel fee.

65 euro in my pocket.....thankyou very much indeed.

Re: Birmingham Motorbike show Chain and Sprockets

I'm just giving a heads up to anyone who is expecting to be walking into the show for free with their boarding pass.

I'll probably go over on the Saturday or Sunday and see what deals can be had.
CalSport were hard to deal with last year. No deals from them at all.
Performance Parts and Torque Bike Racing were willing to do deals,as were HEL Brake Lines.
Helmet City were the best to deal with for Arai and X-Lite helmet prices at the show.
Free visor bag and extra visor from the Arai stand too.

Austin Racing........wont ever be dealing with them again. Thats all ill say about them.

Re: Birmingham Motorbike show Chain and Sprockets

Also remember that consumer rights will also change with regards to the UK and all this Brexit shite.
You could get screwed if you need to return a product.
So double check a part will fit your bike or clothing/helmet/boots/gloves will fit you, before committing to buy at the show.
Also check the companies returns policy too.

And I'm trying to get my head around paying 35 yoyo for 2 iridium plugs, but that's the price they are...maybe the dubland shop were charging you 100 yoyo because they thought you needed 4? I dunno which is worse, they're either thievin barstewards or thick barstewards.

Re: Birmingham Motorbike show Chain and Sprockets

I've a full inconell system on the S1000rr......built by AR over in the UK.
I asked them to supply me with an extra baffle and I got messed around by them for 3 months.
I also ordered 2 springs off them, they said were in stock and ready to post.
2 fucking months later I got them.

Their after sales service is shocking, and their attitude towards myself and other customers at the show last year was very arrogant and rude.

They had no interest in being there at the show last year.
They supply systems to BSB teams now,so that must be gone to their heads.
The average joe soap customer is forgotten about now.
