Caliper carrier rubbing

Hi all, anybody have an idea why a brake caliper carrier would be hitting the disc, just finished doing head race and forks rebuild and caliper service with new pads and now the right one is clipping the disc.cheers.

Have you left out or mixed up spacers on the axle?

Re: Caliper carrier rubbing

No there is only one spacer on the left side, it's a bandit 650 05. I am kind of thinking it could be a warped right disc because the left side is perfect and turns fine...

Did you replace wheel bearings? Correct positioning of the new bearings
is important, particularly if you have the ABS model.

Check everything again. I assume it has the same Tokico floating
calipers as my K6 Bandit. Are the floating pins moving freely.
Anti-squeal and rattle shims in position? Are the pistons moving
freely?
See 5-46 or page 208 of the PDF service manual.

As for 'warped' discs get the wheel off the ground and check
the disc for runout.

Check for seized or damaged disc bobbins or damage to
the centre/hub/carrier caused by a disc lock.

Re: Caliper carrier rubbing

Bearings were done about 6 months ago so there ok, everything moving freely new anti-squeal and rattle shims. Only one pinch BOLT and that's on rubbing side.if I take the caliper off and put back on and wheel spins free but as soon as I pull the brake it starts rubbing.ill check the piston are moving freely later, cheers for responding and enjoy the wine...

Have you the caliper fitted on the wrong side of the bracket?

Re: Caliper carrier rubbing

No it's on the right way, I'm going to have another look tonight. Think the carrier is not moving back when brake is applied so I'll strip it down again and see..its wrecking my head because it will be something simple(I hope)..

Re: Caliper carrier rubbing

Right just found one thing that I hope is the cause, one piston would move out but not back so I took caliper off and pistons out. A piece of the seal had come away and was stuck between the piston and the wall. Must of been stopping it returning back. I just ordered new piston and seals so I know it's all new..tune in next week.......
