» 10 Years ago tonight....
Sep 21, 2017 - 11:45 PM - by kennedydpk
I suppose a lot of new members on here wouldn't have known our Philip, however a lot of should I say, the more established members, would remember him and it was tonight 10 years ago that we lost him as a result of an accident.

Hasn't time flown?

Here's to you son, hopefully you're still keeping an eye on all of us, and it's about time you sent me the Euromillions numbers for the next triple rollover.

» Main beam no working
Sep 21, 2017 - 7:41 PM - by efanton
Noticed that both my dipped headlights are not working last night. Hi beam works fine on both. Checked fuses for both hi beam and main beam and they are fine (both are 15 amp so I just swapped them around as a test)

So I'm left with a couple of scenarios

Both bulbs blew on the same day

switch on handle bar is faulty

there's a loose connection somewhere

or there's a relay blown somewhere.

Any one familiar with this problem? My bike is a GSX 600F

Will be picking up two new bulbs in Halfords Sunday (going to B&Q in Limerick anyhow), but it would be nice to know what the problem is before then as I commute on the bike 40 miles to and 40 miles from UCC... [Read More]

» Help with aftermarket Gear Indicator
Sep 21, 2017 - 5:19 PM - by dvgenius
I was on a shopping spree ordering upgrade bits and bobs for my K2 GSXR 600. Gear indicator arrived yesterday its meant to plug straight into the diagnostics port on the bike but I'm not quite sure exactly which one it is on the bike though ive googled all day and it seems it's one of these 2 (image below).

The plugs on the bike are different to the plug on the Gear indicator so i went back to see the ad description for the gear indicator and it seems its actually for a k4 not a k2

Is there a way i can still make this work? Anyone have the know-how? Any bit of guidance welcome i don't mind snipping the wire on the gear indicator and connecting them directly to the plug... [Read More]

» Anyone with dodgey LED indicator flashing......heres a solution.
Sep 21, 2017 - 12:16 PM - by Japcati
Get rid of the dangerous balast resistors and quick connectors.....if you have them on your bike.

Solder the joints, heat shrink them and fit an LED Flasher relay.
Makes a safe and secure LED indicator setup and no more loose connections and faulty indicator flashing.

» Where to purchase an Almax Chain?
Sep 21, 2017 - 11:31 AM - by tonytoc11
After having my bike very nearly stolen recently I decided to invest in an Almax 19mm chain from their website. They payment went through but they refunded it saying that they don't post to Ireland or NI.

How do I go about purchasing an Almax chain and lock or is there an equivalent that I can purchase here?

» Michelin Tyre cashback....
Sep 20, 2017 - 12:07 PM - by evertel
Just a headsup that there's 35euro cashback on a set of Michelin Power RS or any of the Pilot Road 4's if you buy before the end of the month.
Got a set of PR4's last weekend in Cotters and was handed the flyer for the offer.
You have to give them your iban and bic numbers and a scan of the receipt, and then they'll lodge it to your account in a few weeks.
Big finicky and lets see if it actually arrives, but worth a try if youre in the market for a new set and those model's suit.

Hey there, I'm new enough to the biking scene, only had a few lessons so far. I just wanted some opinions on what to get for some protective trousers.
I wore kevlar jeans and they seemed fairly restrictive and not to my liking.
What would be a more freely moving and if possible waterproof solution?

Sep 18, 2017 - 10:24 PM - by hornethead
Hey all,

Just a heads up to be careful of the ol deer out and about at the moment, one jumped out on me last night in the 4 wheeler and well and truly made shit of it, never seen so many panels and lights damaged. Thankfully his hair was still on the unmentionble so they believed me it was a deer, as he ran off afterwards, those antlers do some damage!

Thing is, it was the N81 out towards blessington, a very popular biking road , one i use very weekend on the bike, just be careful and aware they are out and about.

» Different clutch issue
Sep 18, 2017 - 9:52 PM - by scorpy
Seems to be all the rage so....

Shovelhead with a hydraulic conversion for the clutch. Drags a bit sometimes and neutral is a bugger to find. I've heard that the hydraulic system is supposed to be self adjusting and I haven't messed with a HD clutch before.

Will a good cleaning of the plates help? Can I actually adjust anything?

She's due an oil change. I have no idea if the primary oil and the transmission are separate or joined on this particular shovel but with the dry clutch, that wouldn't seem to be an issue.

This lad got thrown into jail in the UK for pulling a few wheelies

http://news.sky.com/story/biker-pawe...on-m6-11042273

Bit of overkill i think from the UK cops. They wouldn't be as quick to throw a cage driver in jail for using a mobile whilst driving which is obviously more dangerous.
