» Do I need rear indicators?
Jul 25, 2017 - 8:32 PM - by Quetzalcoatlus the Pterodactyloid Pterosaur
As the title says do I need to have rear indicators on my bike? Is there a law that says I have to.

The reason I ask is I would like to do a tail tidy and scrap the rear indicators.

Jul 25, 2017 - 12:51 PM - by Lightening Mcsheen
Hi All,

The young lad has decided to hide my license and no recollection of where he has put it.. Sofas, tables and pretty much house turned upside down and no sign of it..
Heading away on holi bays on Saturday, and need a new license..

Does anyone know if you can walk in and get it done in any of the centers. I've had experience in the citywest center and there as useful as a bag of hammers...
I've also heard in centers like Trim you can wait and they do it within an hour or so..

Help needed!!

» SUzuki Intruder VS750 engine Swapout
Jul 25, 2017 - 12:49 PM - by Dowthebow
Hi All, 1st time poster so be gentle!!
I have a VS750 intruder, and I need to replace the engine.
I think I can source a VS800 engine, so I'm wondering will my current CDI's drive an 800? Or are there any issues with size?
If anyone out there has done this before I would be grateful for any advice!!
Thanks in advance...

» Ktm 990 OEM slave cylinder
Jul 25, 2017 - 11:36 AM - by oroura25
Howdy everyone!

I know a lot of people change the oem slave cylinder for aftermarket ones such as Oberon replacements. I prefer the original if I'm honest but the bearing in my slave piston is pitted from the push rod.

Would any of you fine fellers have an original one that you'd be willing to sell to little old me? I'd be very appreciative!

» Baffled
Jul 25, 2017 - 11:13 AM - by hughcifer
Well lads. Hope someone can help me out here. Have had the Magna VF 750 a few months now and love it. Someone suggested removing the baffles to give it a bit more grunt. Whats the general conciseness on this?

Also would I have to re-jet the carbs if I remove the baffles?

Bought this little gem today. Very clean and I'm looking forward to giving it a few miles. 1998 XJ600S base. I'll probably stick the second disc and caliper back on but other than a new clock surround it needs nothing.

» Bandit 600 Air Gap
Jul 24, 2017 - 5:28 PM - by CorkBandit
Anybody know the air gap for a B6 Mk2 fork off the top of their head?
Standard springs. Save me digging out the Haynes.

I'm using 15W and about 100mm of washers to stiffen out the front end

Thanks

» Making a gasket
Jul 24, 2017 - 4:15 PM - by -alan-
I got a replacement set of gaskets for a rebuild project - but for various reasons, I need to make up a thinner version of one of them. I have decent gasket paper in the thinner gauge - and can trace and cut out the general shape handy enough.

Tell me this - is there any easy way to cut the little bolt holes in the gasket easily ? Early experiments have been less than successful..

» 02 bandit 600 fork tube
Jul 24, 2017 - 2:55 PM - by kcmacloon
Hey all, changing fork seals on my bike, I found a nice pit at the back of the fork stanchion that may/probably is the reason for the seal leaking. Need to replace the stanchion, before buying new will try if anyone here has a fork or set that they could part with to suit a 600 bandit. Quick check online suggests mark 1 and 2 are the same stanchion? Any one got a straight, unpitted one in the back of the shed? Cheers, K.

» Major service + clean up of NSR 250 - who?
Jul 24, 2017 - 11:46 AM - by Dub Duke
I've spent the last few weekends 'servicing' the NSR 250:

- New plugs
- New air filter
- Some fiber glass on cracks inside the fairings
- Chain adjust

but it seems the carbs need a good clean out.

I'm looking for someone to do a bit of work on her:

- clean carbs
- Remove surface rust on Exhausts, and possible de-coke exhausts
- Perhaps cleaning other oxidized bits.

Any recommendations? Chopper - would you be interested in taking this on?

» stripped threads on cylinder head
Jul 24, 2017 - 10:59 AM - by padraic2271
Unfortunately the threads on 2 of the 8 bolts holding the cams are stripped on the RMZ 450 engine I'm working on. The bolts themselves are fine, its the threaded holes in the head itself that have stripped. I'm just wondering what are my options - helicoil insert is the first thing that springs to mind, I've never had to use them before, are they hard to use? Or is there anywhere in Dublin that would do the work for me for me at a reasonable cost?

» Attempted theft - few weeks back Clondalkin area....
Jul 24, 2017 - 10:36 AM - by evertel
Howdy, I dont get on here much these days so apologies for the delay in posting this.
I was living in Clondalkin, boot road area up til very recently.
Early on the morning on June 28th I was up at 4am to get to the airport for a trip to Italy for a cycling holiday. I let the dog out the back to do her business and notice the gate on the gable end was open. I initially thought maybe I'd left it open but when I saw the shed door ajar I knew something wasnt right.
I looked in and saw the bike was still there so was relieved, but the two very old lids in the shed where gone (no use to anyone as they are very old and probably a danger if anything - so I hope they used them and had a fall)
I then checked the side gate and it had been cut at the hinge with a bolt... [Read More]

» Zzr1400 v Gs1200
Jul 24, 2017 - 7:48 AM - by Cnut the Great
Back looking at bikes again and I'm looking for something pretty quickly.
Going on a small trip soon with herself so want to pick something up.
I'm thinking either zzr1400 or a GS. The Zzr is something I could use myself and seems to be practical for our roads, I wouldn't mind taking it out for a spin. I'm afraid I'd find the GS very boring and have no interest in riding it.
But would it be a far better bike for 2up riding
Thanks for any feedback

» Handlebar play
Jul 24, 2017 - 7:13 AM - by Rockster
Have noticed a small movement in the handelbars on the CB accompanied by a creaking noise. Not noticeable when driving but its kind of doing my head in regardless. Suspect its the rubber inserts in the fork top (the bit that the risers fit into) that have perished which is resulting in about a millimetre of play.
Anyone have any ideas on how to remove these, are they glued in or is it even possible to get them out?
Can buy a whole new assembly (about eur250 from Silvers - ouch!) but may have the same problem with a second hand item so am going for the cheap option first.

» And now, for something completely different!
Jul 23, 2017 - 12:13 PM - by jellikit
I needed to find a cruiser to get me back on the road and after trying out a few I decided on this little thing, Honda VT 750 ACE. It wouldn't have been my first choice normally but for comfort and riding position it ticked all the right boxes. I took it out for a 100 mile spin last night and once I realised it can't take a bend like my VFR and rode it accordingly, it was surprisingly fun! It ain't gonna get me anywhere in a hurry but fuck it, I'm mobile again. Now, if someone can direct me to a good tassel shop, that'd be great!
