Motorbike: NC700XD
Default New bike for me.

finally picked up my new wheels last saturday after trading my old fz6.

Honda NC700XD / 2012.

I know they're not to everyones taste but it certainly ticks all my boxes - even the wife likes it! which is made it easy to justify buying it

an Automatic gear box to most makes it a scoot but after six years hammering up and down on the Fazers mad gearing ratio it is a massive change, no clutch and no gear shifter.

Engine revs really, really low - 4500 @ 130KPH. (fazer was 7500 @ 130)
fuel consumption is stunning almost 300KMs for 11 litres. the fazer would have used 16Litres to do the same. I'm pretty sure it can do better too as I wasn't exactly taking it easy this week. Speed is not a problem either as it certainly knows how to shift.

the 'tank' is actually storage for a full lid and the real tank is under the pillion seat. all the weight is low, low down and it makes it very easy to throw it around. sits high with an upright position which is good for those of us with a dodgy back.

so far only downside is the screen, its way too small with lots of wind blast above 90K's, I've ordered a new Puig screen for that and the other small gripe is a lack of centre stand again, thats' been ordered and should be here next week.

finally - a nod and a thanks to Christy and the lads in CC's - great bunch of lads and great to deal with. highly recommended!

"speed is no problem"

I like the features list, but with an automatic, everything about this bike just moans "booring". I'd like to hear what you think after a year of it.

By the way, it looks great.

looks good, i wouldnt consider it a scooter anyway. jealous of the ability to store yer lid safely in ur bike instead of having to carry it around like a knob gettin it the way if ur a commuter/bike only person.
what shpeed box is it?

nice bike, well wear, all the advantages of a superscoot but still looks like a real bike, be interesting to see how you get on with it in a few months.

Nice bike.

I test rode one when they came out. Didn't follow it up at the time.

Missed out I think. I might give them another look.

The gearbox is flawless. I am sick of changing gears to be honest.

Would love a go on that! I'd say its worlds away from the 1980s Hondamatic. Great fuel economy if that's actual as opposed to what it says in the brochure. I think I'd put it the motorcycle rather than the scooter column on account of its size and its appearance; its no step through.

Well wear,
had a look at one of these at the local Honda dealer. Really liked the 'tank storage' and the really low center of gravity. Very easy to handle for a tall bike.
Top stuff

yes you can get manual but the DCT is total class.

I should have added its a split-fully automatic with a six speed box with two settings. D for drive which has more than enough 'go' and S 'sport' for that bit more umph when you need it.

you have MT or AT choice and then there are index finger and thump trigger buttons on the left hand side which you can use to go up and down on the gearbox if your not happy with the auto settings but I haven't been able to beat the auto selector to the correct gear.

Have to google that now. Must have been horrendous.

Sounds like fun, even though I would expect for a holiday rental, but maybe for commuting it would outweight the fun of changing gear.

Great looking bike and quite possibly the most practical bike available?
