» Biker friendly hotels/ route recommendations
Mar 28, 2023 - 8:27 PM - by Clewb
Hi everyone

Looking to plan a private tour down the west coast from either sligo or westport down to kerry. Thinking Doulough, healys pass and caher pass. Looking for accommodation with good food, beer, decent rooms and know the bikes won't be lifted when you come back in the morning.

All thoughts welcome 😀

» Why would a valve collet do this?
Mar 24, 2023 - 8:49 PM - by scudster
Well lads, any idea why a valve collet would do this? I’m a bit puzzled.
Valve on the left has one collet half out, one on the right is grand.
It a 94 regd 92 blade if that’s any use.

Just seen that the MCUI Ulster branch have secured a reasonable insurance quote and funding (through crowd funding and a large individual donate through a business man, Derek Keys/Euro Auctions) so racing is back on!

Dunno how to embed a link but it's on the Belfast News Letter site.

Cookstown 100,Armoy National Road Races too though Tandragee isn't scheduled. Ulster Gp apparently scheduled for August as well.
Short circuit racing to go ahead too.

Brilliant to hear there's some racing going ahead on this island. No government funding up north, all done through the clubs, supporters and generous business donors.

Be interesting to see if the MCUI southern centre can get anything done but seems unlikely.

Seeing as yer all freezing your tits off there, I thought I'd rub it in a bit and take a spin down to the Med today. Feck all traffic, decent roads and good weather. 3 and a half hours or so from Milan down to Savona staying off the motorway all the way. Nice drop down off the hills to the coast. Local riders are all mad. 22 degrees.

» NI Address update
Mar 07, 2023 - 5:43 PM - by FlatOut
Parcelcollectiondepot.com

If you need a NI address to get goods sent from UK,I'd highly recommend them.
Pleasant to deal with and very quick to reply to emails.

Simple and painless, just email them with the details of your parcel, and when it arrives they contact you, no messing around or complications.
Just over the border at Jonesborough, Newry, literally 200 yards from the motorway.
They will also forward on by courier your parcel to the South for 15 Euro.
I'll be using them again.

» Engine from Northern Ireland to South
Mar 02, 2023 - 10:50 AM - by strokeofgenius
I said I'd start a fresh post so as not to hijack similiar ones.Bought an engine in uk and seller could not get anyone to take it to Ireland. One company said if he provided a cert to say engine internals were professionally washed they would take it!Anyway got the pallet and motor sent to a cousin in Tyrone,no problems. As its a 10 plus hour round trip for me to collect does anyone know of a handy crowd operating between north and south? Sad to say the whole england thing is fucked. One breaker I was talking to wouldn't subtract the vat from total, just didn't understand the situation and didn't want to know.

This was stolen last night. Ive no connection to the seller but keep eyes peeled for this yoke and contact them if required. Also a cautionary tale to be careful about giving out location of your pride and joy.

» NI Address Delivery
Feb 28, 2023 - 3:09 PM - by FlatOut
I'm trying to get a parcel delivered from the UK, they don't ship here so I tried getting it sent to An Post's Addresspal, but when it got there they sent it back as it was too heavy, 28kg.

I contacted the supplier and they will ship to Northern Ireland, But, I don't have anyone or anywhere to send it too. I'm in Dublin.
For the curious, it's a replacement bike tent, my original is beyond repair at this stage.

Any help really appreciated ...

Feb 28, 2023 - 5:34 AM - by Rockster
Have a small hole in the underside of the exhaust on my 1999 Cagiva. It's just before the actual can so I could replace it but the cost is unreal.
Not really making any more noise than usual but I presume it will get worse.
Any ideas lads on a repair. The tin can/ jubilee clip solution won't work because of its location and unusual shape.
Thanks

» Grizzly Adams Seat Cover
Feb 25, 2023 - 11:32 PM - by Unfazed
Bought a new seat cover for my Fazer 1000 as the original starter to rip as the seams. To say I am extremely happy with the seat is an understatement.

A fellow called Grizzly Adams on fakebook make them to order and does a fantastic job. Jim Savage in Cork fitted it for me this week.

I would highly recommend Grizzly Adams for the quality and workmanship of the cover and Jim Savage for the great job he did in fitting it.

» Restoring these wheels - recommendations and advice ?
Feb 25, 2023 - 9:49 PM - by -alan-
Gentlemen, I want to tidy these rims up a good bit - restore the two of them to the goldish colour on the one at the front.

Doing it the old school way would mean getting out the nitromors, sanding, primer and paint. I'm guessing few do it that way any more, and there are a variety of professional blasting, paint and powder-coat options.

Was wondering what are the full range of options out there nowadays, and which (if any) you'd recommend ?

Have been gifted a little 50cc minibike. Got it running pretty good - body work is fair but really just for the little fella to toot toot around.

Anyway - I need a front sprocket for it but can't find a supplier in Ireland. Any recommendations on where to buy?

» Battery Life
Feb 01, 2023 - 2:47 PM - by Jfarrell32
Hi, quick question. I bought a new battery from the nice lads in Kells a couple of years ago (prob 2).

I have an unrelated problem with bike so just delivered back to dealer to fix but left ignition on last week when trying to start (push button) so battery dead. Dealer tells me because battery is completely flat it may be fu*ked and won’t take a charge. And need replacing. Sounds odd to me but curious what experts on here think?
