» Decent cheap(ISH) gore Tex gloves
Nov 22, 2021 - 11:38 PM - by Brrm!Brrm!
As above, any recommendations for cheapish gore Tex gloves?(have seen a few pairs on fc-moto in the €130-180 range) any one point me in the right direction?

Have a pair of alpinestars sp-365 drystar, picked up the scooter to bring it back from Dublin to Waterford on Saturday, soaked through by the time I got to baltinglass...water proof me hole!
Was drizzling with one or two heavy patches but nothing really too bad, pretty disappointing really.

Recorded the trip on Strava,if anyone wants a giggle...not bad for a 21yr old 50cc scooter 😅

» Gore-tex Alterations - Pants
Nov 18, 2021 - 12:58 AM - by CodeJACK
Anyone ever had their Gore-tex pants altered to allow a larger waist/hip pour in to them??
What are the chances of the gear still being waterproof?
Any recommendation for alteration places that would be worth trying based on previous experiences?

» Tyre Ageing
Nov 17, 2021 - 12:00 PM - by Big H
I was always under the impression that anything up to 5 year old tyres were just fine to use on the road, but it seems this isn't necessarily still the case.....

Of course tyre technology has come on in major strides over the past 10-20 years even and tyre ageing seems to be less and less of an issue. It comes as no surprise therefore that how a tyre is stored is probably more important than how old it is, which makes perfect sense.

Would people be happy enough to use a 5+ year old 'new' tyres on the road ? I've no problem up to 5 years old (once stored correctly) for sure.....

» Question re. Carol Nash recovery
Nov 13, 2021 - 5:50 PM - by Brrm!Brrm!
Hi guys, wondering if anyone here can shed a bit of light...

Scooter was recovered through the insurance (ended up with the motorbike doctor in Dublin-im based in Waterford,no one down here was willing to work on it) it'll be ready to collect this week.

My question is...will the recovery insurance cover it's return down to Waterford?
I've read the policy,it says I'm covered to take it somewhere local for repairs and costs for collecting the repaired vehicle.
But given that the bike is now running does that cancel it out I'm wondering?

Anyone any idea?(I'm trying to figure out before I ring them incase they say nope,I can get a mate to pick it up,then ring the recovery from his address, don't want to have them say no then do just... [Read More]

Just heard the very sad news that Jimmy Ellis passed away last night, Jimmy was well known in motorcycling and photorally circles and an expert when it came to anything BMW, Jimmy and myself went back to the mid 1970's when I started biking first, Gerry Christie asked me to post this photorally picture of Jimmy which I took in Toe Head over a year ago.
Rest In Peace Jimmy and my condolences to his Son, his family and his friends.

» Looking for a tankbag base (magnetic bit)
Nov 07, 2021 - 8:22 PM - by allsorts&oddjobs
Hi lads, ive an old tankbag , no makers tags so i dunno what it is but I dont have the bottom section with the magnets in it, it zips on but that doesnt matter, I could make another one fit if anyone has an old one lying about or even a complete knackered bag would be fine , I could cut the arse off it.
The bag i have is in perfect condition, otherwise id just chuck it out and buy another but all it needs is the magnetic base.
Happy to pay for it btw so long as its not silly
Thanks lads.

» Wes Cooley Dies aged 65
Oct 22, 2021 - 7:57 PM - by Unfazed
Anybody remember Wes Cooley on the Yoshimura Suzuki GS1000 in the AMA Superbike in the late seventies and early eighties, taking AMA title in 79 and 80. He won the first new style Suzuka 8 Hour in 1978 with Mike Baldwin on one and won again in 1980 with Grame Crosby.

Those old big 4 cylinder 4 strokes were brilliant to watch with him, Eddie Lawson, Freddie Spencer and Grame Crosby

He died at died at home in Twin Falls, Idaho, on October 16, after being reportedly suffering from diabetic complications. He was 65 years old.

» New Roadblock N.I. Imports Re: VRT
Oct 22, 2021 - 1:43 PM - by The Road Runner
Hoping to inform members on here about something new with VRT, I fairly recently purchased a bike in northern ireland .And didnt have to jump through these hoops.

So if you are lucky to find the right bike for you, condition , price, mileage etc, VRT ARE NOW ASKING FOR SERVICE HISTORY , MOTs Etc. Before they will sign off on the paperwork .. you now have to prove that your new purchase was born in Northern Ireland........and has been there throughout its life......fffs. If you buy privately and there is no service history you are at a standstill. delaying you for months. Extremely frustrating when you have done everything correct, they are again moving the goal posts.

Please comment on your experiences to confirm if you are experiencing this problem.

Oct 17, 2021 - 5:12 PM - by Admin
Dubliner Jack Kennedy dominated all Quattro British Supersport races at Brands Hatch this weekend and matches Karl Harris' record to become only the second rider to win three British Supersport Championship titles.

After a red flag crash that almost wiped him out, Kennedy came from LAST PLACE to finish 2nd in a restarted final race 3, to finish just 3/100ths of a second behind serial Moaner Mouth Currie, and make a total kunt of the pack in just 5-laps as he looked to consolidate his race two win earlier that secured the championship and his Bournemouth kawasaki team, running an older spec and under powered 636, the 2021 SuperSport...
