» Importing a bike into France?
Jun 24, 2018 - 9:50 AM - by BigDiggity
How'yiz,

Well I've finally had enough of our poxy climate (as good as it is at the moment), I've decided i'm packing my shit and moving to France next year.

I'm wondering if anyone has any info or advice on the process of importing a bike into France? There is very limited info online that is in English, mostly referring to cages, and I don't know much French yet.

My bike is a 2012 Speed Triple R, pic in all her glory below. Its UK registered as I'm living up North, I'm though.

I've seen mixed info about whether road... [Read More]

» Laguna WorldSBK: 'We have a genuine podium chance' – Laverty
Jun 23, 2018 - 3:10 PM - by Admin
Irishman Eugene Laverty believes he has a genuine podium shot at this weekend’s Laguna Seca WorldSBK round after making solid progress in free practice to find a decent race setup on the RSV4.

Click the image to open in full size.

Laverty was fast out of the blocks in free practice one but then stalled until some changes saw him again make another step in the crucial third session.

» Another "what commuter?" thread.
Jun 22, 2018 - 10:29 PM - by Marty LCI
Not often the Mrs tells you "you have to get another bike!"
Commuting on the lambrettas has become too unreliable so I've been ordered to buy something that isn't going to break down once a week.
Need easy to maintain, easy on the juice, cheap to insure, doesn't have to be overly sporty but I don't want another Deauville experience so it can't have the power to weight ratio of a slug.

Thinking about a new Honda nc750s.
Will this bore me to death on my 35 mile round trip, all weather commute?
What other well built lightweight frugal commuters should I consider?

» MotoGP: Lorenzo's MotoGP pace comes from raw talent
Jun 21, 2018 - 10:10 AM - by Admin
Click the image to open in full size.

Jorge Lorenzo’s recent and triumphant return to form may have as much to do with managing the front-tyre squish on his Ducati GP18 as the new tank pad he received at Mugello, his rivals have declared.

Both Andrea Dovizioso and Jack Miller have dismissed assertions that Lorenzo's return to form is purely down to raw talen, and have studied the Spaniard’s data, and while Dovizioso saw his team-mate was sliding and crashing less than he, Miller believes it is because he is... [Read More]

» lets talk vintage - BMW R7 back to life?
Jun 20, 2018 - 6:26 PM - by MotoPsycho
any fans of old times BMW bikes around here? like from 1930s?

there was a prototype built 1934...named a legendary treasure of Art Deco times....unfortunately never went into production because was way too much ahead of its time and was expensive to build at that time also...but it truly is a piece of art that was left in storage and forgotten for 70 years until they found it and put it back together....question is why no production?

few days ago I stumbled upon this sketch...looks very recent... I really would love it if they put it back into production...what do yo guys think?

» Tips for reducing vibration in handlebars
Jun 20, 2018 - 1:47 PM - by darreng87
Hi lads,

As the title suggests I'm looking for some ideas on how to reduce the vibration through the handlebars. I got an r1 a few weeks ago and after going for a long spin I noticed my fingers were numb and tingly when I stopped. I hadn't been on a bike for a while so I probably need to get more used to it but is there anything I can do to try and minimise it? I vaguely remember the same thing happening on my gsxr as well but not as bad. I don't know what's causing it to be honest, I thought the exhaust might be adding to it as the baffles are out and it's pretty loud but that's hardly causing it is it? Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Darren

Anyone from Depomoto based in the killcool ind estate on here? I'm posting this because I'm not calling you or sending you an email because I'm not sure I want you to have either.
How come I had two of your business cards tucked under my fuel caps this morning? That's that's the sort of carry on I'd expect from a certain traveling minority. They come back and collect later.

Care to explain? Or was it a mate of yours perhaps that I live near?

Either way, go feck right off and leave my bikes alone.

Ryan Hat-Trick extends Dunlop Masters Superbike Championship lead

Richie Ryan tightened his grip on the Dunlop Masters Superbike Championship with another hat-trick of wins on the Mondello Park National Track over the weekend of June 16th and 17th. The Kilkenny rider was pushed hard by Waterford's Peter Moloney and Ballymena's Luke Johnston but still increased his 2018 tally of Superbike wins to nine. In Supersport the returning Jason Lynn, from Maghera, showed his class as he took three dominant victories over the championship regulars.

Ryan's Mobil-1 backed Yamaha started from pole for race one on Saturday and led from start to finish, in an unusually uneventful race, to take the win from Moloney and Johnston, with Mullingar's James Kelly fourth to equal... [Read More]

Anyone got any experience of these type of visor or insert?

Is there any DIY equivalent that I can stick to the outside of the visor and could be disposable? The idea being that the visor itself is protected by the exterior film but also that the film gets full effect of UV color change without the UV filter or the visor limiting its affect.

Jun 18, 2018 - 9:16 AM - by maxjam
So got the bike checked out.
Pitting on the stanchion tubes - both need replacing and will need new fork seals too.

Clutch needs replacing, as in a whole kit.

how doable are both of these jobs on your own - or should they be left to the professionals? bearing in mind that the alternative costs of getting the parts and labour will be pretty damn close to the worth of the bike itself an NT650V 1999

» MotoGP: MotoGP Catalunya: Crash down to riding over the limit - Dovizioso
Jun 17, 2018 - 9:20 PM - by Admin
Andrea Dovizioso said that a mistake whilst riding over the limit was the cause of his crash in Barcelona.

The Italian rider lost the front end at turn five and crashed out whilst trying to stay with the leading duo of Jorge Lorenzo and Marc Marquez. Dovizioso was quick to quash the idea that he was chasing Lorenzo and that is why he crashed out.

“It was not about Jorge, it’s about that I want to win the race,” said Dovizioso. “I had good speed and we have to gain the points to Marc. Marc was there. So I was pushing. I didn’t want to give up.

“My speed in the race wasn’t good enough. I was losing one, almost two-tenths a lap. But when the grip is very low, one or two tenths can be like one-second. So I was... [Read More]

World Championship leader Marc Marquez said that he was focused on finishing the race after losing the front end of his RC213V on the same lap Andrea Dovizioso crashed out.

Marquez crashed out of the last round in Mugello and after seeing Andrea Dovizioso crash out and losing the front end of his Honda himself, he decided he would take the twenty points and race with the title in mind.

I currently have a 2010 Ducati Multi Strada 1200s which I use to go in and out of work I'm Dublin everyday. At the moment I don't go on any big rides with it or do anything else than ride it into work.

I might be able to get my hands on a BMW S1000rr HP4 but before I do I need to test ride one and I also just wanted to check and see if anyone has made a similar change and if they had any advise. I am commuting about 40km everyday. How comfy is the S1000rr?

Jun 16, 2018 - 12:38 PM - by scudster
I’m rebuilding a gas gas txt pro 250 at the moment. I’m about to refit the cylinder but I’m not 100% sure at what orientation the ring gaps should be.
It’s a 2 ring piston which makes me think I should have the gaps opposing each other at the 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock positions so as not to be travelling over the inlet and exhaust ports which would be in the 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock positions respectively.
Would I be right in thinking this or am I totally wrong?
