» Buying a bike from Holland ?
Feb 07, 2023 - 10:33 PM - by -alan-
Anybody bought a bike from the Netherlands at any stage ?

Found one near Eindhoven that looks well worth a look - just wondering if there's any issues particular to NL with exporting one - either through a shipping company, or flying over and riding the thing back home ?

First real day where it was possible to not freeze solid so got out for a bit. Thought it was very quiet around the lake shore but realised that's because there's still ice in the shaded verges!

Anyway all was well and the open tarmac was well appreciated.

» Battery Life
Feb 01, 2023 - 2:47 PM - by Jfarrell32
Hi, quick question. I bought a new battery from the nice lads in Kells a couple of years ago (prob 2).

I have an unrelated problem with bike so just delivered back to dealer to fix but left ignition on last week when trying to start (push button) so battery dead. Dealer tells me because battery is completely flat it may be fu*ked and wont take a charge. And need replacing. Sounds odd to me but curious what experts on here think?

I'm still on the hunt for a decent FXR (about a year and a half later

I'm sure there's one out there - but Im struggling to find much online. Closest btw was a really good one in Sweden just before Christmas, but the combination of price, distance and time of year was just way over the top hassle wise. Best was a great one in Scotland in September last, but the bl**dy thing was way underpriced and sold about 2 hours after it first went up.

For the last few months I've been trawling the following sites religiously, but was wondering if there's any out there I'm missing, and worth adding to the list ?

Well worth a watch if you've half an hour to spare serious collection here. Would love to spend a couple of hours taking a look in person. Man those older Gixers are just the perfect bike imo always regretted selling my 2002 model and replacing it with an RSV 1000 My dumbest biking move ever besides that time i got drunk and bought a BMW off Ebay

» Non display of prices and what bike next
Jan 28, 2023 - 11:59 AM - by R.M
Just having a browse and looking to see what I may get next once I get sorted for my Tuono.
Very annoying when dealers don't display their prices, and if they do, it sometimes shows a model that's an old model, so price is probably wrong.
Looking at another naked, never buy the same bike model twice.
Biggest hassle is if you go triumph, Ducati, BMW etc, you have to travel to Dublin for service/warranty work to keep your warranty, which for me is a 500km round trip 2 to 3 times annually as I like to get my bike serviced every 5k.

New Tuono Factory - 23k, don't like the looks of it.

Yamaha MT10 SP - 19k, supposedly great fun bike, thirsty as fuck and not nice on the eye.

KTM 1290 Superduke - Again, supposed to be a cracking... [Read More]

I'm undertaking this after 10 years of procrastination.

I'm not going to put the steps up here just yet, at least not until I'm either successful or have completely failed however, so far it's looking hopeful.

All I'll say is it's not going to be easy, potentially not cheap and ultimately it will be 100pc legal and above board.

And it doesn't involve reframing the bike.... at least not just yet!

Any thoughts on these lads? Seriously considering one after a few years on adv bikes, assuming my wrists and knees don't snap.
I've had blackbirds, ridden busas etc, in the past. The h2sx doesn't appeal at all, big money and don't like it's looks. I just have a goo for a big sportstourer again. Will probably import after looking at what's on dungdeal.

Here's a lovely Bros/Africa Twin special built by Jonny Kerins in Meath.

Obviously a lot of work went into it, but the exhaust really lets it down imho.

What bike did you crave to own or ride and ultimately disappointed you?

For me it was the VFR1200. As soon as I saw it I thought I had to have one. A combination of the Blackbird and the VFR800...perfect combination.

While it was a fine bike it just didn't do it for me

What was yours?

Bought a set of front used disks for the rd back in November.Sent the man the money inc postage he sent them and they never showed. They arrived back at sellers house yesterday.Parcelforce said Irish customs refused them because they were motor parts. They wont refund him his money either as they said too much time has elapsed even though they only arrived back yesterday.Any of you here of Irish customs refusing motor parts or is this parcelforce covering up a mistake?I got 2 rg500 wheels from Denmark in a week no problems.

If you wanted a serious test on your spanner swinging skills - how much would you realistically be spending to get this back on the road? Along with an asking price of 750 (and thats reduced)

I picked up a lovely clean one of these in the UK a couple of year back for 1000

» Replacing led indicators (5 amp spade connectors)
Jan 05, 2023 - 3:42 PM - by Brrm!Brrm!
Would 5 amp spade connectors be alright for connecting these up?
Will I need a crimper or will a pliers do the job?

Trying to do it myself, haven't the money to pay me mechanic what's likely to be a 3/4 hour job(fiddly fucking wires/connections....)

Any help would be appreciated!

(read on for the full story of what's going on,or not...)

So,front left led indicator died on me a week ago...

Have a full set I bought on a whim,so said I'd change them all while I'm at it.

Went at it,rear right had also shit itself so I decided to start with that first because of easier access. Got the old one off, turns out the new ones have 2 wire's and the old ones 3. Not too big a deal, got it working but very... [Read More]

What is it lately with advertisements for bikes or any other type of vehicles for sale. (not talking bout biker.ie)

all the information about it but neglect to give the mileage.

Would your heart not be broken answering the same question over and over again to some information that should be provided in the first place. In alot of instances its the first thing people want to know.

Jan 02, 2023 - 10:52 AM - by R.M
Went for a spin on 21st Dec just to keep battery topped up. Driver decided to do a U Turn while he was in stop go traffic and I was overtaking.
Couldn't avoid him.
Collided on drivers front wing and went flying over bonnet.
Broke my right femur in 2 places
Broke left ankle
Broke right wrist
Shattered right thumb
Had 2 surgeries and have pins, road, plates.

Still in hospital and will be starting physio this week
Pissed that I have travelled Kms all over Europe and had no issues, then some numb nut wipes you out
Anyway, here to tell the tale, that's the most important thing.
