filtering on the left this morning past a van and he slowed to let a cage turning right thru, I couldn't see it and he was sitting waiting for the cage to take me out. Stopped in time and turned to see a very disappointed driver

this has happened a load of times over the past few yrs, are people really setting up bikes/cyclists to get creamed just so they can sit and watch it? one woman told me "well you shouldn't be there..."

what is wrong with people these days??

» Petrol leak
Mar 19, 2018 - 4:27 PM - by sub zero
How's it going lads?

Hope someone can help me with this problem. I have a Honda CBR 250 MC22 here that I'm trying to get running - it's been off the road for a year now and I tried to start it up earlier. It started handily enough thank feck but then I noticed there was petrol pissing out of somewhere. Thought I didnt have a hose connected properly or something.

I had a look to see if I could spot where it was coming out of but drew a blank - to me there looked like multiple drops from around the carbs. Question is if anybody here has had similar issues and knows what might be up? Fairly stuck here so hopefully someone can help!

Thanks lads

» Pinlock ProtectTint visors?
Mar 19, 2018 - 1:17 PM - by fast3r
Hey lads, has anybody the ProtectTint version of the Pinlock visors (like this one)?

They're supposed to be photochromic and adjust really quickly to changes in light.
How do they perform at night / tunnels? They're not cheap so... it'd be great to get an opinion from someone that's already used them.

Mar 18, 2018 - 11:32 PM - by scorpy
Lads the CR was a pig running into corners last time out. As soon as the throttle was shut to get on the brakes it was pulsing and surging with higher revs than at idle. Eventually it would settle to an even idle but I'd have to clutch it or come off the throttle really early to stop her pushing me wide or giving a pulse to the rear while leaned over.

It was about 1 degree which I reckon it has never been run at before, so probably lean. Would a lean pilot jet cause the surging on a trailing throttle? Or is it just an air screw issue?

» Carb or EFI??
Mar 17, 2018 - 5:03 PM - by maximusbigguscocksimus
Hey guys,

I'm in the market for a Mx bike, been off the dirt for over 15 years and can't fight the bug to get back into it any longer!!

So to keep to a budget since I've to buy all the gear along with the bike and to make sure I still like it I'm looking at a used YZ250F. At 31years of age, over 5'11" and 97kg I'm hoping the 250 4 stroke will be enough to put a big grin on my face again!! Was tempted to go 450f but I've been advised against it.

If a 250 really is the right choice my next question is do I stick to my budget and buy a pre EFI yz-f, circa 2008/09 or pay around €1000 extra for an EFI model circa 2014.

Keeping in mind, as I mentioned earlier, I've to kit myself out in the gear again and get a trailer for... [Read More]

» Dunlop splits with Hawk for 2018 TT
Mar 16, 2018 - 9:30 PM - by Admin
Michael Dunlop has announced he will run his own Superstock and Supersport bikes at TT 2018 after splitting with the Hawk Suzuki team.

In a statement issued a week after the team tested at Cartagena, Dunlop thanked Hawk for their efforts but said he would do his own thing.

“I will be contesting the Superstock and Supersport classes at the Isle of Man TT and other event on my own MD Racing machines,” it reads.

“I have not renewed my contract with Hawk Racing however, I am currently considering my options for the Superbike class and will confirm my plans when something is sorted.

“I’d like to thank Stuart and Steve for their support over recent years where we have shared a lot of success together.”

Mar 16, 2018 - 9:25 PM - by keanser
So just under a week after getting the new bike I was followed by 4 scumbags in a bmw.

Finished work and hit the m50. Car passed me on outside lane and pulled into inside lane and slowed right down, I was in middle lane. As I passed them I just assumed they were taking exit and kept going. Caught them pulling back out behind me. Kept going for a bit and slowed down myself to see if they would overtake but they just kept the distance.

Being a paranoid freak I came off at carrickmines and went right over the bridge the guys followed, looped again at next roundabout back across where I came from and had a good look at them as we passed each other on the bridge. The four of them were hanging out the window.

Took them on a little goose chase down... [Read More]

» Legal: passenger on bike registered for one seat
Mar 16, 2018 - 6:27 PM - by fast3r
Hey guys,

I've just received the updated registration certificate of my new CBR 600 RR 2009, bought from a dealer last week. With extreme dismay, I noticed that the declared "Number of Seats" for the bike is one (section S.1).
The bike does have a passenger seat and footpegs, so... WTF?
Is it legal to carry a passenger? Do the Gardai check this kind of things?
I've even spent more on my insurance to be able to do that

Thank you for any advice!

Lads what realistically are the chances of this one going ahead if the temperatures are down in low single digits? I thought most of the advanced lads would avoid going out with track temps below 10 to 15 as there are problems with getting temp into the tyres.

If the weather forecast is true, I'd imagine numbers will be seriously low. I don't mind going out but if it's going to be cancelled I'm coming from Donegal and I'll be going down to Dublin tomorrow to avoid a stupid O clock start on Saturday, so a heads up would be appreciated.

If anyone hears anything can they throw it up here? I'll ring them tomorrow before I leave to check anyway.

The price is good but I'm wounder if I asked a dealer down here too buy it,would the get a better deal on it ? As they buy most of there bikes up north so can get pounds easy, have there own transport and do vrts every week or so.i don't mind paying them for there service or would that be cheeky of me ?
If they sold the bike they could make about a grand or more on it.

Mar 15, 2018 - 7:49 PM - by paulyDub
was walking out from aldi east wall into their covered carpark and there was 6 or 7 teenagers hoodies up trying to steal a bike by pushstarting it. They saw me and pushed it on letting it fall on its side and they legged it.

I rang cops, the owner came out and I gave him my phone and went to check my bike. he said a couple of bikes been stolen from there, cops know who they are, didn't ask reg or address etc.

The kids are stealing in broad daylight, in busy shops, they don't give a fuck about cctv, cops are sick wasting time on them and the only losers are the bikers
