» First of the Year
Feb 26, 2024 - 3:47 PM - by GoTilUBlow
Got out for a spin and was surprised at how less rusty I was than previous years. Chilly but the heated grips earned their keep! Hoping to do a lot more this Summer. Starting to realise the years are passing quicker.

» Sv1000 Rotor Magnets
Feb 19, 2024 - 11:43 PM - by manbearpig
Hi All,

Had a balls of a day. Sv left me stranded on the M18. Managed to push it to the parking space just after Gort. After a quick tow Ive managed to find the culprit.

The SV has mangled 2 magnets off the rotor and won't charge the battery. I was lucky to be able to pull in safely and also very lucky with the weather.
Anyway - struggling to get replacements, anyone have any ideas?

» McCormack 'confident of top 10 return' at TT 2024
Feb 19, 2024 - 4:40 PM - by Admin
Racer Brian McCormack has said he is "confident" of getting back into the top 10 at the 2024 Isle of Man TT.

McCormack, who is the second fastest Irishman around the course behind Mike Browne, secured his best finish in 2019 with ninth in the Senior.

He said he would be "looking for more in 2024" as the team's "whole season is built around it".
"I know where I need to improve so hopefully I'll get it all together," the 40-year-old added.
The Waterford man has been competing at the June event since 2010 and had just recorded his best finish in... [Read More]

» Push Pull Throttle Wire
Feb 12, 2024 - 12:49 PM - by TuneR
Throttle isn't as snappy after ihadtalayherdown (after i left the bike drop while doing a u-turn). Anyway wipped off the tank, disconnected the cables, lubed it up nicely and it worked better but still not as it used to be. I feel theres a kink somewhere.

Is it possible to buy good quality wire with the throttle side crimping and then replace just the wire? I see universal kits on Amazon but i wouldn't have much faith in them lasting. Its a Domino throttle so it has screw connectors on the wire on throttle body side.

Just to say I got the VFR1200x Crosstourer serviced over at the lads in Mototuning in Newcastle.

Sound chaps. I had to cancel dropping it into them last minute because of work, but it was no issue I got another date off Karl and got it in for a basic inspection , service and end can fitted

The workshop looked nice and clean/tidy the price for the work was grand.

Bike needs new tyres so, I'll probably ask them to fit them for me too - I'm thinking Dunlop Mutants

So they get a thumbs up from me 👍

ladies and gents,
anyone ever sucessfully replaced fork leg bottoms on a set of kyb/kayaba forks from early 2000s

by all accounts before i attempt it, if i do, its not easily done at all, and you run the risk of destroying it

I've got a new bike that I have to pick up in the Netherlands, I've tried the usual few people but they cant get to it for a few weeks. I'm half thinking of going over myself if I could get another bike or two or anything to help with ferry and fuel costs. I've been waiting almost 3 months for the bike as it was coming from the US, so I'm keen enough to get it, otherwise I'd just wait the few weeks and get someone to pick it up.
Unless anyone happens to know anyone passing rotterdam in the next week.

Anyone have any luck getting a project bike from kidd motorcycles? Have some nice looking machines on their DD page but like anything could be a big risk.

Looking for positive feedback on them 👍

» Any place good with amal carbs?
Jan 30, 2024 - 10:17 PM - by custom900
The 276 carb on my yoke is running grand, but lately it leaks a little fuel after a spin and I notice that one of the plugs is really black so it's running rich on that side. Is there any shop or person that you'd recommend for the older stuff on this island?

So, moving on in my 70's and I find getting the leg over a bit of a challenge - Varadero 1000XL not the other. I'm back on bikes since 2007 after decades without and the buzz never stops. I've had thoughts of maybe changing to something different. I have had a 650 Dragstsr and 1100 VStar ( which was remodelled by a Stevie Wonder in a cage). Anyone else here having similar thoughts or even some advice, comment? I have to admit this winter I have not been out much for various reasons but the urge is definitely there to clock up the kms. Thanks....

Jan 17, 2024 - 10:01 PM - by biker0270
Hi lads

As people have seen over the last while, my hometown Roscrea has been in the news, the government have taken over the last hotel in town and abused residents of the town in dispute over illegal migrants. The townsfolk have organised a march to highlight this situation on this Saturday 20th January meeting at Racket Hall Hotel at 2pm. Free Spirit Mcc will be helping to marshel this walk and would like to invite all to support us, this march will be a peaceful occasion and everyone is welcome

Thank you

» TT Trip 2024 first timers, need help
Jan 07, 2024 - 1:39 PM - by Dymag

Considering TT 2024 first timers, potentially about half of race week, the back end preferably. Yes we may be late coming to the party. Just seeing what options are available.. Did some searches, not much to be found. Sorry if there are posts.
Would like to be Douglas based near everything etc etc. Seems TT village sold out? Now looking at glamping/cosy cabins, similar option(s). Will not ever bring a tent/nor erect one. Need our comfort(some bit) Any other options accommodation-wise? b & b, homestay(i believe on hold till Feb for bookings?) air BnB? again Douglas area if possible.

Also, getting there, ferry prices for bikes rising by the minute, what are options if we had to go on foot, can you go from Dublin somehow on foot??
