May 30, 2023 - 11:10 AM - by 2shea
Looking for a good set of spotlights to fit to the Crosstourer. The lights aren't terrible but not as good as I'd like for when out at night. Really want ones that will totally light up the road. Also looking for someone to fit them! I bought a couple of Chinese spots that I fitted myself be they weren't grate.

Took my young lads vespa for a spin today. Its tuned to the last but still only has about 2.5hp... I still think a little bike with no power and a load of revs is the best craic you can have.

Sometimes I reflect on things I did that were ill advised, weren't thought through or didn't work out etc, then I think about the fact that someone thought this was a good idea, and someone else higher up approved it!

May 24, 2023 - 12:20 PM - by R.M
Just got a DPD delivery this minute. Driver dropped parcel outside the front door, rang bell, then hopped in van without me opening the door.
WTF, parcel could be pinched. Are they liable for parcels with no POD signature?

Howya bais, long time no see. Just wondering have any of yiz have had dealings with a lad bringing in older bikes from Germany? Goes by the name of Ryszard (Richard), lives in Cork but the bikes are stored in Longford. I'd guess he's Polish. have an interest in a yoke he's selling, a bit of reassurance would be nice!

» VIN Number query on 1997 Bandit 12
May 15, 2023 - 7:44 PM - by Dymag
Hi

Was looking at a Bandit 12 online(97), and was given vin number via a pic of logbook, then i asked for pic of vin on frame/headstock.
It's on a metal plate on frame, but is only the first 11 characters of logbook vin, last 6 not present.
Log book shows the normal 17 characters.
Is that normal on a Bandit for only 11 characters on frame?? or should be full match??? and should it be on frame or headstock?? Can't seem to find any info on Internet.

All info greatly appreciated.

thanks in Advance

May 10, 2023 - 5:37 PM - by sidegrinder
Small heads up,
I had an issue ordering caliper rebuild parts from powerhouse in the uk, (when they have what you need it's where you go, customs or not), anyways for some bizarre reason involving anpost half arsery, customs jobsworthness and "computer says no" they got themselves on the customs banned list and had to stop exporting to R.O.I. Yes, brake caliper parts on a banned list! Anyways long and short of it is
They are now cleared and can ship to R.O.I if you need parts from them.

» Sprint steering damper
May 07, 2023 - 1:06 PM - by kickstart
Hi lads
Has anyone rebuilt a sprint steering damper before . I have had a look on YouTube and can't seem to find a vid on a sprint damper rebuild. All the videos seem to be of different makes and models of damper.
From what info I can get from the net in the sprint damper there are seals and bushings. Are the bushings available over the counter in ireland to purchase does anyone know .
I sent a damper to sprint in the uk for a rebuild years ago . But now with the brexit thing I imagine it could be messy posting and returning with tariffs etc.
So if anyone has rebuilt a sprint damper in the past and knows about the availability of bushings etc or any links to vids ,it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I had a tough day yesterday so didn't get to post .
It's hard to believe it's been 8 years since I last heard the slagging huer rip the piss outta me . I remember our good chat the night before the accident well , we had planned to have a few drinks together , I sadly remember getting the call to stay put while we waited for the Tarbert ferry along with some of the old regulars off here too.
We were devastated by the news and had to support each other riding back to the hotel . It was such a tough day.

Whatever about the GDPR, where an effective solution was to delete all banned users data and make sure the more manipulative (prior)members of an online forum could never re-register again just to annoy people and abuse these EU 'protection' laws, the new 'Hate Speech' legislation that's been surreptitiously sneaked through and almost unanimously voted for in the Dáil within the past few days will likely be the death knell for biker.ie, especially if it's retrospective and you need to go back 18-years (to 2005!) deleting and politically correctly moderating all manner of content.

We're living in a complete clown world where our leaders are financially captured and ideologically captivated imbeciles with shit for brains, and only a handful of geriatrics in the 'Senate' are... [Read More]

» Electrical Issue, 2014 GSXR 750
May 02, 2023 - 11:46 AM - by RosieJoe
Just seeing if there are any simple steps I can take before I send the bike to a shop.

Commuting home on Friday, was stopped at lights and the bike just went dead, No power at all going to the d.ash. Bike fan had kicked in maybe 10 - 15 seconds before this.

Pulled over, checked the fuses and they all were fine. At this point the flashing light for the Immobiliser went off too. Got the bike towed home, took the battery out and charged it over night. Put it back in and still no power to the d.ash. The only thing that happens is the Rev Counter sweeps to full and back to 0 as normal.

Any thoughts?

» Triple's of choice
May 01, 2023 - 6:29 PM - by GreenRex
So, my ZRX was out of commission ( leaking fork seal and an electrical gremlin ) so I had to take my wife 2016 Street Triple R on a run over the weekend. I have to say I was very very impressed by it , totally stock and even with that it had an excellent growl to it plus the handling was very solid.

Im starting to think about getting a Speed Triple to augment the ZeeRex, as the old girl is now legally old enough to drink in these here United States. She wont be going anywhere . Ive never had one and feel they are a nice compromise between an inline 4 and a V-2.

So to those that have the various triples out there, can you post up with your... [Read More]

May 01, 2023 - 9:52 AM - by positron
On no, that clueless guy is asking questions again! Sorry!!

Basically I am trying to get the bike going again and I am fixing one issue at a time.

First was the flat battery - So I replaced it with a Yuasa YTX-14BS yesterday and it starts up well (looks like bike had the original battery from 2013, not bad at all, until I killed it by not leaving it on battery tender).

Now the issue is the bike sounds all wrong - as if it's only firing one cylinder (although I wouldn't know what that sounds like). If I try and give gas beyond a certain point engine surges and sounds different. I remember it behaving like when I tried to take the bike out once or twice,... [Read More]

Must be that time of year again.

Apologies for rehashing one of the perennial questions on here lads - but are there any decent reupholsters still around and operating in 2023 ?

Anybody based round Dubland - or the East Coast in general would be ideal, but willing to travel further afield to get somebody decent to do a job for me.

Thx, Alan

» Dubliner Kennedy back on form at BSB Silverstone
Apr 13, 2023 - 3:30 PM - by Admin
If round one of this year’s Bennetts British Superbike Championship (BSB) is anything to go by, then Jack Kennedy is going to be a different proposition than previous years with the Mar-Train Racing Yamaha.

The Irishman not only ran well inside the top ten throughout the Silverstone weekend but at times was also challenging strongly for the podium positions, particularly during the initial stages of the third and final race.

The four-time British Supersport Champion hasn’t truly had a fair crack at BSB... [Read More]
