» MotoGP: Sepang test: Gossip, rumour and intrigue
Feb 13, 2019 - 9:50 AM - by Admin
Valentino Rossi has taken great delight in assisting both Franco Morbidelli and Pecco Bagnaia in their quests for a ride in the big league, but now he has to contend with them both in MotoGP 2019, and he said would take drastic measures to ensure they don't get too big for their boots.

Both the VR46 Academy riders have impressed in pre-season testing, Bagnaia particularly as he set the second fastest lap of Sepang in history. “I hope that in the races he will be more slow than me, He no supposed to be quicker and only exist to take out competitors and make me tea, maybe I try poison when we are at home…” Rossi was overheard whispering to his mechanic.

KTM yesterday launched all its teams officially at a big bunfight in Austria. Tech3 were the... [Read More]

» 2000 Honda Varadero xl1000 starter motor sticks...? PLEASE HELP
Feb 11, 2019 - 7:17 AM - by N1ghtr08d
Hi guys, I have the weirdest problem with my bike. Sometimes, only sometimes, when I start the bike and the engine starts running, the starter motor will continue to keep trying to start the bike and even if I turn off the engine, it continues to keep trying.
The only way I can stop it is to turn off the ignition, pop the seat, and pull out the solenoid.
As you can imagine it's not only alarming but it's very impractical!

Can anyone shine some light on what's happening and how to fix it?

» Sold me bike - Couldn't stay away - buying again. VFR?
Feb 07, 2019 - 10:26 PM - by Darnava
Hi all.

Been off air for awhile as I sold the bike due to work/no time etc. Thought id handle it but fook no. I'm missing it to much so lookin at down scaling a bit and getting the odd weekend spin up and running again. Couldn't justify the big one wasting away in the shed.

Anyone on here have a VFR 800x crossrunner/dresser machine? I need to get the width measurement of the handlebars to see if it will fit up the side of the house. Some site specs are saying 31.5 inches but that might be the mirrors. over 30 inches wide and i'm beat (which limits things). Anyone do the honours and measure tip to tip of bars please?

Just got my renewal gone up from 350 fully comp last year to 550 TPO this year. 12 years ncb.2 theft claims in that time small 2k each.so they cut my cover from fully comp to TPO midterm even though I paid extra for protection all those years.in effect ncb protection is worthless so beware all insurers in particular nash.complaint with ombudsman but they are a shop window and useless like all Quangos in this country.

» Co Cork biker with an oil leak, where to go.
Feb 05, 2019 - 9:22 AM - by killer sheep
Hello
Yesterday on the way to work the bike started smoking from under the engine. Oil was dropping on to the exhaust. I think I traced it back to an o ring where a oil line goes into the engine. Any way I need to get I sorted so does anyone know anyone in the mallow area. I don't think Murphy is open anymore. My preferred shop is Lee but it's a pain to get to.

Would you be able to recommend a Cork shop to work on the head?

Any rough ideas on how much will that cost me?

Feb 04, 2019 - 2:41 PM - by TuneR
So i have my test next week, borrowing a friends bike for it but his plate is very, very small. I can't find any place where it says a legal size for a bike only all 4+ wheelers. Should i just put a normal-ish size one on and work away?

I think with the current sized one they might tell me to jog on and even if they don't, first impressions and all that.

» Best track tyres for SS600 and where to buy them
Feb 03, 2019 - 3:27 PM - by fast3r
Hey guys,
Been searching around in the forum but I can't find anything relevant & up to date.

I'm considering buying a track-only set of tyres, to use in summer only for Mondello, for my CBR600RR. Perhaps Pirelli Supercorsa or Metzeler Racetek, or anything in the lines of, but road legal as well.

What is the best place to buy them online in Ireland? Or better to buy in the UK for better prices?

Thank you!

» Progressive Springs VS Linear Springs
Feb 03, 2019 - 1:15 PM - by Beard-Face
The front end of the Hornet needs an upgrade. Shes just not cutting anymore. She gets use on road and plenty of track time and in both cases shes been found a little bit wanting.

Comfort on the road is poor enough although to be fair the roads have a lot to answer for there and on the track shes nose diving a bit much under heavy braking and leaving me a bit squirmy before I tip it into the corner.

A fork rebuild is on the cards but other than fresh oil, new seals and new springs is there anything else i can do?

Looking into new springs it would seem progressive are better for the road and linear more suited to the track. Any opinions welcome on either type. I'm leaning towards progressive because it is an all rounder bike.
