Isle of Man TT

So 2021 is called off but I reckon 2022 will be fucking epic numbers wise since its been canceled for 2 years and people are going nuts doing nothing.

What are the chances that some big sponsors will have hit some hard times due to lack of bussness via covid and brexit.

Also will you need a visa to get to the island? (I hope I am taking the piss!)

» Fairings.. what's the best one you've used ?
Jan 21, 2021 - 3:04 PM - by -alan-
Am at that stage of life (or maybe lockdown) where Im seriously thinking of getting a bike for touring. Have made it as far as Spain from here on an old school naked bike - the 1130 VRod, but the novelty of the wind blast at 70 mph and no protection when it really did start to bucket down with rain wears thin.

Have owned an ridden a fair few sportsbikes with full fairings, the brother's 1100 Pan..I iked the weather and blast protection from the Pan and the fact that you sat completely in what felt like a bubble of still air behind the screen (you could ride with the visor up easily enough). What I didn't like was looking through the perspex - like looking through the windscreen in a cage, ( and one with no wipers).

I know the looking over/through is entirely... [Read More]

So yesterday I was en route to the VRT office to get my classic assessed when I spluttered to a halt on the M50 unexpectedly. Managed to get over to the side across traffic lanes before it completely died. Hadn't noticed but my fuel tap had been set to reserve and the tank was dry.

Bollox I thought, nothing near me and on that long stretch between 10 and 11 going south so facing a decent walk for a Jerry can at a minimum, not to mention VRT appointment in 20 mins, for which there's a no-show penalty of Ä45 I think.

About to dial the AA and resigning myself to an hour freezing at the side of the M50 when a Hiace pulls up...

"What's up?"

"Outta fuel"

"Where ya going?"

» Not dead yet
Jan 15, 2021 - 11:20 PM - by dufferman
Hope you are all keeping somewhat sane lads and lassies,

Do you remember Oisin Hughes and the documentary Not Dead Yet. It covered his trip from Ireland across Europe and doing the road of bones,

I thought it was brilliant and have watched it a rack of times. Is there anything that anyone has watched similar that's worth a watch (looking for recommendations).

I watched long way up recently and couldn't get me head round it. It was ok but seemed to be thrown together especially nearing the end. Converting a bus to carry the bikes was the more or less the penultimate episode and it hardly featured in the last episode after. Pointless imo.

Anyway if there's something you have seen that's worth a look to kill an hour in the evening... [Read More]

» Battery acid -New EU reg from 1st Feb 2021
Jan 12, 2021 - 8:24 PM - by Error52
Don't think this has been covered. You can't buy dry batteries with separate acid pack from Feb

"As of February 1st, 2021, Regulation (EU) 2019/1148 that prohibits the sale of sulfuric acid for batteries to the public and to end-users, will enter into force and be applied throughout the European territory.

The principle is to prevent the use of sulfuric acid (which usually comes in the form of a pack with the unactivated battery), for purposes other than charging and activating a battery.

All distribution players will have to adapt to this new regulation.

These batteries must be charged and activated by a professional before being sold to public. The professional will make sure that the battery is delivered to the... [Read More]

Lovely day today, thought about making a cup of black coffee and went out the back garden and visited the scooter in the garage. No fancy shop coffees here as I spent all the money on the FZ6. Saw a friendly garda car drive by the house.

Some day roundy mooney, the covid will be gone and the warmer weather will be here and we can ride again.

Jan 05, 2021 - 5:19 PM - by R.M
Got out for short spin today, just to keep battery topped up. Bike hadn't been ridden since late Oct or early Nov. It struggled to start, but did.
Wore 2 t shirts under lined jacket and had jeans on under pants. Roads were still damp and winter sun didn't help. Not much fun. Only spent 45mins out and brimmed the tank up with juice near home. Hosed down and put away for milder days.

Jan 01, 2021 - 8:44 PM - by Alabama Whitman
Am I right in thinking that because The North is staying in the EU's single market and applying EU custom rules at it's ports that we can still buy bikes in there and avoid import duties and VAT?

Dec 30, 2020 - 1:19 PM - by sharpbikes
suppose its time to work out where the best value is to be had in mainland europe. uk market has become a bit of a pisstake so whats everyones usual choice from mainland europe when something cannot be bought from local stealers and breakers......

we all know the usual louis.eu and fcmoto but what else is out there, as for alot of lads its gonna be a case of scouring through random german and french websites looking for value and lets face it delivery times will come into it to now were shopping from further afield. carpimoto have been quite good in the past from italy, and ive not seen many other places match their price on brembo pads.
