» Electric Bicycles - Advice and reccomendations?
Feb 24, 2018 - 9:06 PM - by Sleazy Rider
My daughter wants to get an electric bicycle to ease the hassle of her commute to work which is only about 5 miles but can take her up to an hour and a half each way on the bus. She is not ready to jump in to the fully motorized two wheelled world yet so this is a good compromise for her to start with.
So anybody got one and what are the pros and cons?
Priced from about 1500 to 3000, do you get what you pay for?
Any advice much appreciated. I am clueless to advise her so any knowledge imparted here would be a blessing.
Thanks in advance y'all.

Hey guys,
I’m going to look at a bike next week (cbr600rr) and it isn’t registered here in Ireland.
Obviously I want to check the VIN to find out if the bike is dodgey but I don’t want to check it against the the foreign logbook. He could be handing me a coloring book for all I know.
Is there any sites you can check then VIN on, everything Iv seen only uses the Irish Irish Reg number (no good)
Thanks guys will keep you updated on the sale

» Different types of Oxford heated grips?
Feb 22, 2018 - 8:23 PM - by N11 EXPRESS
Want to get a set of Oxford hot grips and I notice there is a few different types, as far as I can see the only difference between them is the difference in moulds but what I need to know is there a set that I can get that allows for some trimming as I have handguards and will almost definitely need to trim down but am afraid I will ruin the element.
Has anyone ever cut them down?

- zebra crossing how can you identify one.
- braking sequence- front brake first followed by back brake.
- when can you overtake on the left.

Was going a ''bit'' over the speed limit on the motorway and noticed a gatso machine on the other side of the dual carriageway hidden behind a bush on top of an approximately 3m hill. My number plate is 7.5'' by 2'' and a bit dirty so was wondering if anyone has encountered such a situation. Normally I would say that they can't see you on the other side of the motorway but was reading on a few other UK sites that now they actually can see up to 5 lanes including the other side of the motorway even if its separated in the middle with a small barrier. Any truth to that or just scaremongering? Normally wouldn't care about the €80 fine but I was doing speed which I think the our government would consider worthy of prison time. Took me by surprise for sure as I have never seen a van on the... [Read More]

Hi All, left the GSA in for a service today, the first in my ownership. The tyres that came on the bike were nice and square and not the type of tyre you would normally find on a bike of this type.

I opted to get a pair of Maxxis Detour fitted. Anybody here got experience with these?

» Looking for advice from all of my all year riders out here on a bike choice
Feb 21, 2018 - 6:14 PM - by FEid
Hope everyone's doing well. So basically I had a pretty bad crash a few weeks ago, car cut across me and a good aul T-Bone sent me flying over the bonnet. Very, very blessed in the way I hit that I basically had no major injury, just the usual bangs and bruises, whiplash, tissue damage... Anyway enough of that, my bike that was taken out was a GN125, and has been written off. Am being compensated for it, but am torn between using the money to get another brand new GN125 (or other 125 for that matter) or to add a bit more on top to start moving up in the world. I'm on an A2 full license, and so far the one bike that seems to be within my budget are around 07 Honda CBF500s. My question really is, buy the GN or other 125 that I'm used to and aren't expensive without adding much, or shell out... [Read More]

» Side lane security ideas !!
Feb 21, 2018 - 12:17 PM - by keanser
Just looking for ideas (preferably pics) of what systems guys use.

Storing bike in a shed out the back is not an option so need to figure something else out.

I will most likely leave the bike in the side lane (all walls) anchor plate, decent chains, disc locks etc at a minimum. I also have cctv.

What else do people use for extra security ?

Some have mentioned putting bars across the side lane in other posts and maybe a foldable lean roof to keep the hard weather off it.

Has anyone got pics of these, for ideas ?

Appreciate recommendations for security locks/ground anchors also

Please and thanks

Then they will cover it (they are allowing me a period on uk plates before it needs to be registered).

Has anyone run into this isssue, brought in a bike before when they covered the bike so that I could ride it back. Queried them via the phone and also via email (same response)

» GS911 in Dublin?
Feb 20, 2018 - 6:07 PM - by HarryE
Hi,

I'm new to this forum and in a spot of bother. My bike (F800r) makes up its own mind whether it wants to start or not. I guess its a bit like the lotto, I sit on the bike, turn the key and press the red button, then wait to see if I'm lucky and the bike wants to start. If not I wait a while until it does. The readout tells me there is a problem with the engine electronics but is not specific and from what I know, the fault could be due to one of a number of problems. Hence the request to see if anyone has a BMW diagnostic tool (GS911) near the Dundrum area (Dublin) that I could connect to the bike. Any help would be much appreciated.

Is it expected that BikeWorld's internet price is much lower than their in-store price for the same item?

Unless I missed something, they seem to be selling the same helmet for 446 EUR on the internet that costs 525 EUR in store.

» Kitting out a box trailer
Feb 19, 2018 - 1:35 PM - by Jeff7t7
Hi all,
I recently got a box trailer and am looking to set it up for the trackbike and bikes in general, anyone got any tips on what to have in it?
7ft7 long, 4foot 8 wide, 6 foot high.
Room for two bikes side by side.
I'll be installing one wheel chock permanently on one side but the other space is free.
As regards bolting tie downs and stuff on is the wooden floor strong enough or do you lads run some sort of frame or bracing underneath? The ones in it are just through the wood..

Something for hanging gear, tools, spare wheels, and a tiny bench are in my mind..not sure whats actually necessary though.
Any ideas or must have's appreciated!

Hi folks,

Has been a long time since I was on here, Having started a family and gone the last several years without a bike finally looking to get back in the saddle.

Looking at purchasing a bike for commuting and a general all rounder that I can also have some fun spins on, going to ditch the car, absolute pain in my face sitting in the traffic, cant do it anymore.

I am thinking the 2017 model Yamaha MT 09 but I am really open to suggestions. had a good look online and it seems to get great reviews, have looked at the z900, gsx and the Honda CB but the yamaha seems to stand out.

I will be doing 60k round trip daily on motorway mostly but don't mind not having front fairings.

Almost ready for the stillage for Spain.....
This week will be the last few jobs and make sure everything is as it should be.
Bought this 2015 Seton built R1 at the end of last year from a guy I know in the uk. Bike was used for club sport racing in 15/16 very little last year.

Usual Seton spec, autoblipper etc, it's got the latest Generation 6 mapping just done and Seton aftermarket bellmouth kit. I did all the normal things, serviced it and painted the fairings. It's just back from Graphics work by Moose design in Mallow. I think it's pretty awesome so here's a few pics
