Went for a wee spin west last weekend. Took the old road down to Galway and did a good bit of the Wild Atlantic way between Spiddal and Leenaune. Some interesting pig smuggling tracks encountered. Did a bit inland too. A few pics in no particular order.

» Spin at the weekend
Jun 09, 2021 - 10:45 PM - by Alabama Whitman
First big spin on Saturday on the new bike up to the Vee and Lismore through NCW, Kilmallock, Mitchelstown, Ballyporeen and back to Kerry via Fermoy, Mallow, Buttevent, Liscarroll, Dromcollogher and Abbeyfeale to Listowel. Disgraceful amount of loose chips on the road up to the Vee, whoever signed that job off as acceptable should be ashamed of themselves.

This was my first time out on the bike with my son and his SV650.

» Custom brake lines?
Jun 02, 2021 - 3:55 PM - by proto
I'd like to put longer brake and clutch lines on my blackbird, any good sourced of custom lines?

I've been looking at Jaws, Goodridge, Hel, Venhill https://www.venhill.co.uk/; fuck Brexit.

Any good Irish or European suppliers of hydraulic kit?

I wouldn't mind making the lines myself. The Hel & Venhill line builder tools on their websites are handy though.

May 30, 2021 - 12:10 PM - by Dexy
Just went to fire up the bike, not a geek jumped her off the cage and away she goes. Rev counter at the 6 O'Clock position just moving there abouts when ticking over. Takes a bit of throttle play to get her to pull? Would this be down to a faulty / discharged battery? Battery on charge now😉 last good run was Easter weekend.

Put a deposit on this today. Definitely a heart over head purchase.
2 reasons for going RR over Factory.

1. Cost!!! Think 3k more for Factory & colour scheme not to my liking compared to the 17 model. No interest in all this suspension wizadry. I have never adjusted a suspension in any bike I've owned.

2. The 2021 RR model is a more road focused bike. Taller screen (not sure I like it, may swap it out if possible), larger rear passenger seat. Might take the missus for a spin??

3. Prefer the simple white or silver colour scheme.

» Daylight MOT - importing
May 28, 2021 - 3:06 PM - by smas
Hi all,
Has anyone imported from NI or UK in the past where the bike has a daylight MOT only?

Any issues with VRT, or were they looking for lights etc to be installed even though they wouldnít apply to the bike since it didnít have them originally?

Assume Iíd need to stick on a clock with sufficient mileage (6,000km+) to avoid the VAT issue for under 6 myth old.

May 25, 2021 - 3:01 PM - by Clewb
Hi Guys

Changed rear sprocket (up 2 ) and redone electrics. Bike is now trying to lift between 1/2 and 2/3 to a lesser extent. I think I possibly need to adjust the kill time. Anyone know how to go about it? Bike is cbr 600f3 and dynojet quickshifter.

» Voyager trike conversion kits
May 23, 2021 - 1:27 PM - by vifferman
Not that I'm looking for a trike myself, but seeing as a lot of us are getting on a bit this might be an option for someone. Once the kit is installed, only takes 5 minutes to convert to trike or back to bike.
I don't know if anyone here or UK doing them yet, but look like a good idea, rather than a full conversion and cheaper too.

» New Brembo Discs
May 20, 2021 - 4:44 PM - by Sleazy Rider
Evening all. Looking to replace the discs on my bike and wondering does anybody stock or distribute Brembo discs down south.

I know HBA in Armagh are distributors but I would like to be able to call to somewhere a bit closer with one of my discs and say gimme dat. The OE discs were also used on a lot of Ducatis and Aprillas so I know there are replacements available.

I don't want to buy from the net as all the sites seem to give different measurements for offsets etc. and it could be messy getting it right. I would like to walk out with 2 discs that I know are right, even if the price is a bit higher here than online so.....

Any advice appreciated and thanks.

Haven't posted much in the last couple of years...
Picked this beast up a couple of weeks ago, some difference in power from the Z1000sx. Took 4 hours to get from Coventry to the Birkenhead ferry in the pissing rain.
It's for my youngest, once the licence and CBT get sorted we can do the photorally on separate bikes.

They are talking about scramblers on green areas in limerick... Andrea gilligan interviewing a guard.

Gilligan said they can confiscate bikes being ridden on private land and the guard said.and also bikes with no tax insurance or NCT😂...

The idea is they are going to show young lads how bikes work mechanically and let them see a bmw 1200 and that will solve the problem...

Great to show them the mechanics but thats not gonna solve the problem. Its like showing them how to take off a bra but they have to keep their hands behind their back

» How to tell the wife a new bike is coming
May 19, 2021 - 10:34 AM - by ninky_nonk
For any of you bikers out there, how do you manage to break the news that you bought another bike? With myself and my son back into the bikes, it is going to be a big problem soon, I'd say. By soon I mean Saturday when I collect a really low miles scooter for him having only broken the news recently about a pit bike.

My ideas so far:

Hide it in the garage - That won't end well

Hide it in a mate's garage

It's an investment, much better than money in a bank a/c! - have you seen how the prices of good bikes have risen lately?

*** it, I've no other ideas......

Come on tell us what strategies you have employed and whether they worked out for you. I hope it wasn't a case of the wife or the bikes... [Read More]
