Default Oh The Times They Are a Changin'!

I remember a time when bikers were kinda like a brotherhood, and although I take the piss out of the 1%ers, they have a lot more integrity than the majority of modern day bikers.

I've seen the transition from a close knit community to a bunch of daily mail reading Legend, ps. I love you Xs who would grass on their neighbour for having no tax on their bike.

Fuck this shit.

A lot of modern day wannabee bikers are pussies who store their bikes for the winter months, then there is the bunch (not all I must say) that do the rally circuit every weekend during the "biker season" Call themselves bikers but to be honest are nothing more than potential alcoholics, I used to do rallies every second weekend but have backed off, you rarely see these bikers during the week, it's great to bitch Gixxer, now pm me the link to that video editing software you use. Must admit that what you say is true to an extent, I'll show respect to those that deserve it...

I hear this a lot and its total nonsense.

Its nothing to to do with biking, its how society has changed and is now, and each generation its getting worse.

Most people dont even know the names of their neighbours, nor would help in a simple task if asked.
It those same people driving cages and riding bikes, you think they are going to magically change once they are in control of a cage or bike?

Why... oh why do you want to ride a monocycle?

Yeah it has changed, way back in the 70's it was just bikers, we all fixed our own bikes and lended a hand to any biker that needed it...now you got so many divergent groups from...aw I won't even bother...but the one thing that remains the same is the feel of two wheels under your seat...

I was being tongue in cheek when posting this reply.

The thing is though, it is unfair to target a whole subgroup of bikers as the guilty. You probably should give the benefit of the doubt as the poster may be havin a bad hair day. Unless of course the target in your justifiable witch hunt/ is a zero percent'er.... harley/bmw owner.... the horrors of being associated with that rif~raf,.....

Just get on you're bike and enjoy it....who care. What's a wannabe biker anyway? What's a biker? You either ride a bike or you don't. I couldn't give a shite how someone else does it.

I Have no problem with bikers of any description, whether they be 1%ers, summer only or rally only, the ones i hate are the posers, the poser imo is the guy with all the gear and the expensive bike but cant ride the bike for shite, wobbles around the place when he meets a few bends but has to go as fast as he can on a straight stretch, then the Legend, ps. I love you X slows down to a crawl at the next bend, mind you his power ranger suit is well polished - wankers.

I take the point tho about modern bikers not being as close as we were back in the day but i think thats a societal thing, most bikers still wont see you stuck at the side of the road , the brotherhood thing is still there, its just that there are so many younger lads on bikes now that don't remember how it used to be when bikes were so unreliable and there was no such thing as a tow truck, the best you could get was an ordinary trailer that you had to sit in holding on to your bike so it didnt fall out or you got your mate to tow you with the rope wrapped around the bars, hanging on to one end of it at the grip so you could let it go if you were in trouble, its that kinda thing that brought people close, doesnt really happen anymore, now you just whip out yer smartphone and call the breakdown service, an improvement in some ways but has taken away a bit of the old adventure and making do,,relying on yourself and your mates, in some ways its too easy now.

Hmmm....I dont know, Ive been biking for the last 36 years. Gone through stages where my bike was my only form of transport for years, even for a few years after I got married. Then kids came along, got a cage for transport, didnt use my bike as much. As kids got older I used the bike a lot more, but more for enjoyment not as a necessity. Im in my Fifties now and my bikes are my main interest. Absolutely love getting out on my bike, as do my 4 brothers who are also bikers.
The biker camaraderie was always there, and still is in my opinion. Its something cagers will never understand. As for the gear, I always try to get the best I can afford, never new, usually off DD or FleBay. IMHO the expensive stuff is usually the best for the job.
Id never judge a biker from the gear they wear or the bikes they ride, in my opinion theyre to be admired for getting out on their bikes.
