looks like more than just the headers; Is the box underneath also rotten.

The headers and collector box are not rotten, its is surface corrosian caused by daily use on salted roads and not being rinsed off afterwards.

Purely cosmetic but does marr the look of an otherwise new bike. Use as a bargaining point otherwise just forget about it.

Looks more than surface rust imo...would take a grinder to get that back smooth...if the bike is cheap then just forget about the pipes...for now..

100% gonna have at it if I get no question dude. My main concern was would having at it fix it or is it too far gone. Seems from all the replies that it is fixable

It is already been bargained, I was just worried it was too much and wasn't only cosmetic. looks like i was wrong from what everyone is saying, and I'm happy to be proved wrong in this case

Fuxache, if you're getting it cheap, then just replace the exhaust with a stainless one... or don't buy it!
Jesus fucking H Christ. It's not 'who wants to be a millionaire'... You don't get 50/50 or call a friend, either buy it or don't! What's wrong that people can't make a decision for themselves!

Well sorry you feel that's the case bud :) I like getting advice from people more experienced in a particular subject, because it gives you facts and opinions you didn't know or didn't consider, and ultimately may change your mind or save you from a something major you hadn't seen (Not necessarily this bike case, but anything really). To each his own way, live and let live, or just ignore the post, easier for both of us :)

You've already said you're getting it cheap.
Buy it and stick a stainless system on it... and change those studs.

That definitely seems to be the best idea, as soon as I can spare a bit more that's the plan. It already has a slip on, so that's one part already done. I'm just waiting on a fucking cheque to clear so I can go for it, I swear banks take ages to do anything.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if someone has already swung in there and gotten it. If it was a bigger cc bike that can easily happen when there's too much attention being drawn to a good deal. You've the same thread active on a number of forums. I'd act quicker if I was you...

Nah I've told the guy that I want to ahead with it and I've just called him today. He said he'll hold it, but between waiting on the 3rd party insurance to send a cheque, and cashing that cheque, and having a bank take ages to cash that cheque... I swear sometimes shit in this country takes TOO fucking long, everything takes multiple weeks to get done

A few years ago some guy put up a "anyone know this bike" thread on here.
While he was arseing about wondering if the bike was 3 shitters welded together
another member went to look at it and bought it.The op started moaning that he missed the boat
but he sunk it himself

It's happened more times than you'd imagine, plenty of lurkers or low post pilots that'd sweep in there say thanks very much.
The auld, look what I bought thread could get entertaining !
