Hi Lads,

Half considering doing a one off race at mondello but not sure if I have the bottle. Am 42 now but used race in the Yamaha Past Masters series in the UK years ago and did OK. I have an ex race steel frame Honda 600 with a technoflex shock and revalved forks and dynojet kit with spare wets and all the leathers etc. I suppose I'd just need to affiliate to a club, get a licence and do any of the flag training.

I was wondering in my own head why I'm even thinking about it but there is such a different buzz from racing compared to track days .... a good buzz!!

I've ridden the full circuit at mondello a few times with No Limits and have no problems at all in the fast group but is that fast enough for the pre 97 class.

Dunno, might stick to trackdays ..... I don't bounce as well as I used

Yep no bother to you
Just the pre 97 class is now obsolete but pre 97 bikes qualify for the replacement pre injection class

Refer to the "want to race" thread in the racing section here
Lads there be glad to advise

I did track days for year before I started racing ... i couldn't go back , and mondello in not a horse power track my 86hp '93 CBR600 was doing 1:55 on big track and 1:00 on the short one .....

90% of the guys that are racing are one of the nicest bunches of people you will ever meet ..... and are a huge help too if you need hand

give it a go ... if it doesn't suit go back to track days .....

I'm 40, and I'll be sticking a 'formally known as pre-97' bike out into the 'pre-injection', this season for a few races (unfinished business!), but you'd wanna be careful of some of those lads that just commented there - especially culchie, timhysu, frank and rambo: mad €unts they are, fecking mad!

I'm also out in the 1000's, but that's only to keep away from crazy bastards in the pre-injection!!

Go for it, there's plenty older than both of us and their having the time of their lives - still remember Baylon's face when he won his first road race last year, and he's a couple of years older than 21!
