Brilliant class! Easiest on tyres aswell. And the 400s can go in pre 97 class aswell so you always get a run out at every meeting both ISB and Clubman!

what year is it? no one racin a hornet tho. its not a race bike? and road bikes converted are usually cbr600's or a similar sports bike with race suspension/fairings/tyres/damper/gearing etc. i know foook all about all the kit but.... id try maybe sell the hornet and get a cbr 600 if ur doin pre 97 or a rvf 400 or similar for ss400's. scoops could advise u there. andrei converted his road cbr600 for pre 97 but there is plenty for sale at mo, €1500 to €2000 with spares. then get tyre warmers, paddock stands. the more kit ya get with the bike saves ya lookin for it, i got me bike on ebay and im gatherin kit as i go along, got me 1 piece leathers, back protector, have a damper but have to put it on yet, gettin spare wheels, got tyre warmers, paddock stands, i can buy all this shit... but cant buy racin balls, ive to grow them!!!

Hi scoops. what about the sv 650..are they easy to convert for racing. surely the 400s get eaten up in the pre 97s ?

Ive no idea about whats involved in converting the Svs, If you were getting a new one id say the Kawasaki ER6 would be better again. But as far as I can see converting any bike from road to race costs a fortune unless all the parts are left standered. There are a few about for sale for not too much money like.

Ah yeah the 400s are eaten up alright but Ive raced in it loads of times, tis grand to get a run out its good auld craic and there is nothing more satisfying than winning a battle against a bike with a bigger engine!

ISB is Irish Superbike Championship, thats the best riders race in the ISb championships.

Clubman is the entry level of racing, the bottom tier of tarmac racing.

400s and 650s are ran at all ISBs and ran at selected clubman rounds in Mondello.
Pre 97 are ran at all clubman.

Depends how hi spec your looking for, they can be got from 1000 quid, the championship winner Emmet O Grady was selling his for 3000 I think.

RVFs are the dearest, too dear for what you get out of them in my opinion I would be afraid to say what i spent on mine, the ZXR is the way to go, more powerful, roomier, seem to be more reliable too from what I saw.

How many races per year could you expect to be doing and does it matter if you cant make it to one or two..

You do as many as suits you. There will be 10 championship rounds, you can do 1 race if you want, you dont have to sign up for a full season there is no obligation at all, most lads just enter what they have money for at the time,

I only did 4 championship rounds this year I think
