Bikes that break your balls

This is like an AA meeting for bikes,in the sense that you need to call the services of the AA regularly,or just reach for that bottle of whiskey.

I own a husaberg ....who else is a stupid bastard, what have you bought that you know you should have saved your money for something useful likes prostitutes and cocaine!

Ducati Monster M620 that I had as my first bike was awesome but constantly had problems.
An alarm that was poorly fitted, used to cause the bike to cut out if you turned right.
Had a few long journeys on it caused by ever decreasing circles to limp it home.

Same with my ex Kawa GT550, if I had to take the carbs out one more time I would have preferred to set the bike on fire. Luckily I sold it first.

Re: Bikes that break your balls

Without a doubt Buell Ulysses. Left me stranded a few times. Drive belt snapped without warning. Seat would rub on the ecm so had to move that. Bike fell over on a perfectly flat surface by magically vibrating itself off the side stand.
Because of the vibes, leads would chafe and would need replacing. Front cowl rubbed against the horn, damaging it. Low slung exhaust (mass centralisation donchaknow) was the most rust prone piece of recycled coke can ever strapped to a bike. Lasted only one winter.
Having said that I loved the bike, great crack to drive....

A 1972 CB450 K5(mostly). You've handled bits of it Davy :)

Just missed buying it off a member on here a while back, chased it up and paid nearly twice the price to a bstd horse-trader/dealer because I had the froth at the mouth and wanted it a bit too badly. An endless stream of hassle that started with bores, and then moved progressively through valve train/brakes/charging system/carbs and of course countless stripped threads. I could have bought two decent ones for what I've spent on the damn thing so far.

But hey, as they say every day's a learning day. Expensive fkn education tho :)

Woeful yoke, every type of weird and random problem you could ever imagine.
I'd fix one thing then there'd be something worse the next day.
Only up-side was parts were readily available and cheap.
Got it sorted eventually and promptly sold it.That was my first and last foray into brit yokes.

Honda Varadero.

The exhaust seals that Honda make are made of chocolate and it's a pain in the hole to replace the rear cylinder one.

In fairness it was a nice yoke to ride, the biggest problem was the previous owner
"restored" it.All he actually did was clean and paint it and replace all the shiney stuff.
The wiring was a total mess. After countless attempts to sort it I just replaced every part of the electrical system
and that cured most of the issues.
Moral of the story,if you're buying a restored bike, make sure it was actually restored
not just fannied up.

Another Ducati to add to this list. 1990's Monster M600.. Engine was fine, everything else fell apart. Hello and goodbye within 6 months. A guy was looking for a project and I sold it to him without sugar coating it.

Bros 400, bastard of a yoke. Every 2nd day there was something.

Eventually got it running right and sold it

Sold it to a young lad who texted me that evening to tell me what a great bike it was and that he was out on it all day ,nd how he was delighted thanks blah blah blah

2 days later I was getting phone calls telling me bike is after breaking down etc etc , kept on calling me everytime there was a problem lol

YL1 Inefficient charging system

GS500 Fuel tube routing between the airbox and the frame is narrower than the actual - tubing and then the last few cms have to be pushed on to the fuel tap on the inside
tap.

suppose the biggest pain ive ever had from a bike was a yamaha r6 5eb, such a good bike if it wasnt for liners cracking, have thought of buying one several times again but pretty much guaranteed a cracked liner in the future

The tank on my old Honda has a fuel balance pipe between the left and right side - loops below the frame. Every time you want to lift the tank off to get at the carbs/wiring or whatever, you can't just turn the fuel tap off - you have to empty the bloody tank, or try to lift it off the frame with one hand blocking the end of the balance pipe, the other blocking the outlet nipple on the tank, and two more hands to wiggle the tank off the frame :mad1
