Was up in me mates house a few days ago, meself and Hell Blade and me mate Stanley where putting the Renthal bars on me bike. I turned around and said to me mate. Why dont you where your boots on the bike. He got a pair of Frank Thomas boots (I think).
His reply was, that he wouldnt wear a pair a of biker boots on a little 250cc. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but he needs them as much as any biker on whatever CC needs them. Im only posting this now cos Im gonna show him your answers.

a) Cos he's too lazy to put them on,
or...
b) he feels self-conscious (but that's unlikely)

Either way, give him a beating, sounds like fun.

That was one nasty photo. Fair play to the man for getting back on the bike with the artificial leg.

Anyway, remind the boyo who won't wear boots what size bike the best bike racer ever, Joey Dunlop, was on when he was killed. That's what I tell people on 125s who ask me should they bother with good gear.

True. For young guys though cool is often more important than self-preservation, so cool might help the case for boots.

I (nearly) always wear full gear on my bike
However I've also got a scooter and don't wear any bike gear (apart from the helmet) when driving it. The scooter has a max speed of 45 Km/h or under 30 miles per hour. You can go this fast on a bicycle down hill. The scooter also weighs only 82 Kg.

However I would say that for anything that goes above 65 Km/h or 40 miles per hour, you should wear full gear. And for anything that weighs over, say 120 Kg, you probably should wear ankle boots to protect your ankle in the event of dropping the bike.

The only scars I have are from coming off bicycle at 35km. Bloody painful picking grit out of my arms and legs. Came off a motorbike at 35km and didnīt even feel it bcause of the gear.

A lot of lads were a pair of jeans for their short commutes around dublin.

I'm guilty of wearing just a windbreaker when going into town on a very hot sunny day.

I know sweat washes off and road rash doesn't...
