Isle of Man pull the plug on the Zero TT for 2 years

Despite some amazing developments in electric/new energy motorsports, the Manx goberment decided to cancel the Zero race for 2020/2021. Least this allows more qualifying for both newcomers and the remaining classes

Not suprised. Watch it on the island it's boring as feck. Tiny handful of bikes pass and 14 hours later the race ends.

TV its mildly more interesting but one lap at ok speed. Feck em

Long way to go with battery technology to make sense on bikes.

Are MotoGP still trying to get an electric class off the ground or has that (literally) gone up in smoke after all the bikes caught fire?

Re: Isle of Man pull the plug on the Zero TT for 2 years

I'd much prefer to sče them in mass start road races, the shorter southern ones would be well suited to them, they'd up the profile of electric bikes no end. I think the TT Zero and even Moto E have a wiff of experimental elite off them . I was impressed with the srf the marshals had at kilalane this year. would be great to let the lads even to a demo race on a few next year

You couldn't get enough for a mass start. When this idea first started they probably felt there'd be loads of guys in sheds entering. That all ended when Honda/Mugen came along and started throwing money around like confetti.Maybe a claiming rule could sort it out?

yes rules would be fun... like to participate in TT E bikes must compete in other road race championship events? E bikes must be homologated etc an on general sale..there could be a zero ( or other)championship where each dealer offers up a race prepped bike to compete?,

If honda wasnt there this would have happened way sooner.

There not good enough is the issue. Your back to 90/100 mph average and still one lap.

So more bikes but poorer for viewers.

Mass start actually makes it worse. Then the whole batch pass you and nothing. Least singular it's some way spread out

they need to be ran in the best environment, mass start at TT would be a disaster, however in skerries, walderstown....billown, olivers mount etc...then you have a race on the cards..on the narrow roads 4/5 bikes almost climbing over each other at 100 mph is not boring to watch. the longer northern races might be less suited to their range.
