A bit on the side

So today an opportunity arose to make a couple of ticks off my bucket list.
I had a run out in a sidecar.Some craic but f**kin hell,it's some workout.
I've aches I've never felt before,I thought I was fairly fit but this was an eyeopener.
And just before we knocked off,I was offered a shot in the pilots slot.
The grip and acceleration is unbelievable. My usual photographer was unavailable so this'll have to do.

Them slidey crews are bonkers. Heard many of the crews actually pee blood for weeks after returning from the TT with the battering they get

Re: A bit on the side

I was heading back from southern Spain about 20 years ago, and an oil line burst on the old Gixxer I was riding. I managed to get it to a service station, where I met and got chatting with a couple of lads from England. They offered to drop me at the ferry at Cherbourg, so I said "fucking nice one!"
They were driving a large cage, with a sidecar outfit in the back, and after quizzing them for half an hour, about where they'd been racing the sidecar in Spain, it turned out they weren't actually racing it. It was actually packed full of cocaine from Morocco.
Needless to say, a good time was had by all on the journey home

Ah,so that's how they do it
I don't know how they do 4 laps of the IOM,I was knackered after 5 laps of a kart track.
I thought I'd be wrecked this morning but I'm not too bad.I feel like someone whacked me in the ribs with a hurley, that's from leaning over the wheel
and my wrists are sore but that an ongoing issue from previous stupid shit
Gotta hit the gym before my next outing

Sounds like you had great fun all the same Liam. Worth it in the end. Them sidecars are mad things to handle i'd say. The amount of movement on them is only for a very fit person trained to it. So a few aches and pains are acceptable.

I've done it a few times and I've had nicer beatings!
Any of the passengers that do the TT will tell you the Mountain Course
is easier than most short circuits.
That's a pretty cool outfit, who's is it? I thoroughly recommend anyone
to try if they get a chance.

I was out on a kart track and the lads were saying it's much tougher than even mondello, all the corners are so close together.
I'd like to get a run around mondello next time.

The International Circuit is easier that the National.

I found my arms weren;t too bad, couldn't believe the forces through my legs
from bracing myself.I had to sit down for a while cos I couldn't walk
The war-dept's exercise machine/clothes horse might be getting dusted off in the next few days

Easy to say but the more you tense up the harder work it becomes.

The lads gave me a few pointers about that and I was holding on too tight
at the start but I really didn't need to.The other thing was moving left to right
I was moving too late and I was getting dragged in the opposite direction
so they told me to start moving earlier and that made all the difference.
There's one section with a fast left with an almost hairpin right immediately
after where I missed the hand holds a couple of times. When I shifted earlier
no more problems.Bit more practice needed I think

You should try it some time Pat
I couldn't believe the handling,it held a line like it was on rails.
I almost turned into the kerb a couple of times.Weird having no brake lever on the bars, takes a bit of getting used to

Re: A bit on the side

I had a go many years ago as a driver, making up the numbers. First time driving was Mondello where I discovered I couldent really reach the handlebars and was dog slow. When the Killoch brothers passed me, one on each side, I knew I was in the wrong place !!!!!!!!!
