Brakes failed and he overshot the turn into the gravel - no issue, he rejoined.
They did well considering the machines that were out there competing with them.

It certainly gets you in the mood for a bike trip once these restrictions are lifted

Re: Budget bike battle: '06 R1 Vs K6

I've watched a few of these now and it amazes me how the lads spill the cash on fancy bits but won't buy service items.

Every bike I buy I go through all fluids no matter what the service history.
New battery if I'm going on a big trip.

They seem more interested in dyno read outs than reliability and brakes.
Just buy a seal kit if you are going to track days and rebuild the callipers.

As much as I like the show baldy is some moany sore loser.

JHS also wouldn't inspire confidence, how did it take them so long to figure out the k6 issue?
JHS were all the rage in race circuits for years but they just seem like a bunch of lads chancing their arm in a shed?
Oh wait a shed with a dyno!

POWER!

Yes, this is true regarding the practicality or wisdom of their preparations.
But I think what they're trying to do is have 'content' that errs on the side of entertainment value over plain common sense. I'm guessing that they've thought that chancing their arm a bit and making it a competition of sorts, or a tongue in cheek series about pricking on bikes instead of a more traditional fly on the wall, serious and right way to do it type thing. So we can laugh at their idiot 'antics'?

Anyhoo. I think they mentioned raffling these bikes at the end of the series? Ehhh, no thanks, I'll pass.

Yeah you're right about that, what sane person in their right mind would ride a bike the length of France and half way through spain without a side stand.

to be fair to them i doubt they're getting paid much to do the work in the first place and trying to talk a giddy lad into actually sorting common sensible things can be hard in a garage from what ive experienced in the past, there is no talking to some lads, you can tell them the brakes need refurbishment but they look at ya dumbfounded and ask for you to fit these spangly upgraded pads as that'll fix all the issues, well atleast in their head anyway........ (main reason i hate the trade) and from what i've seen about the boss man hes seems more relaxed and just about leaving the lads to do the work while he does work on land rovers and generally looks after the customers/44teeth lads.
also has to be an element of "whoops who saw that coming" with the 44 teeth crew as they're trying to be entertaining. To be honest it would'nt have the same appeal if it was more like wheeler dealers or that delboy lad just droning on about how everything is done. seems very down to earth also which is refreshing rather than watching lads stumble around pretending to be meticulous doing a job where it isnt really necessary

Re: Budget bike battle: '06 R1 Vs K6

It's top gear for bikes on a budget....I get that and it's very entertaining.

But come on! Brakes are kind of important!
Driving without lights is also a bit stupid.

That Gixer was a cursed bike but also a shit buy!

The R1 used to be nice!

I think it's one of the better videos on youtube at the moment. Light hearted & funny at times. Better than alot of the other shite out there.

Yep, agree theyre always worth a watch. Thought the one where the try to get to Switzerland on 2 600s in the depths of winter was by far their best. Que lots of bandit /hornet shots in the snow etc....

A 69,000 mile race bike turned out to have multiple issues and crash damage!
Love is blind and common sense isn't all that common!
Come on it was stupidity buying it and if it was you or I it would have been parted out long ago.

It's great to watch, seriously entertaining and the taller lad is fecking hilarious.
I loved every bit of it but can't help being critical of their prep.
The Itialian one was good too. Can't wait for more but hope they start learning.

Yep all 15year old bikes will have some kind of issue even low milers but common sense is to sort brakes, battery, all fluids and known issues.
Then buy the bling.
