Re: Bike Insurance in Ireland -How much do you pay?

Just renewed this week with CN...€249 but with €50 cashback after 90 days works out at €199... Full Comp....incl breakdown assist, DNA security system...slightly wrong side of 40, 12 years NCB....was with Adelaide but best they could do was €235 without breakdown assist, but hope to never use it!
Took some amount of haggling though...would have been much less stressful to auto renew but not as much fun!

Post Re: Bike Insurance in Ireland -How much do you pay?

My figures for mid-February 2015.

Prices in € Fully comp tpft
AXA 529 491
Carole Nash 521.33 395.1
Cornmarket 250.32 233.36
Liberty 503.4 387

About me: 30 year old male, passed my test back in October, riding bikes for years, 09-D CBF600sa, MS for 6 years, 6 years no claims. I like the CBF for its ABS system. I don't think I'd ever ride a bike without one now.

I gave Cornmarket (aka Adelaide) 275 for fully comp with no claims protection and legal cover. It was only €25 to add that on so I went for it.

I miss Quinn. Liberty have gone awful dear by comparison. As for a list for the ring around, I skipped Aviva because I sincerely doubt they can come in under €300. Carole Nash was was the best of craic. They originally came in around the €750 mark. And I could hear the supervisor chatting away behind the poor Polish woman I was talking to. "Dziękuję" says I (thanks) æbut I'm hanging up now unless you can come down to about €450" so they went away, had a confab for 5 minutes and came back at €521.
My liberty renewal was €480 which went up by €20 for some reason. Job done anyways. Petrol seems to have crept back to the €1.30 mark, but I'd only use a €5 a week.

Re: Bike Insurance in Ireland -How much do you pay?

Can't figure CN. They were waay of the mark a few years ago when I checked, but now 100 cheaper than Aon since last year. Paid 300 and got 50 cashback, so not bad.
Although saw a sample quote in a Uk mag recently would cost me £61, so we're still being rightly screwed.
BTW if you let the ins expire for a week and then start fresh you can get the cashback again.

Re: Bike Insurance in Ireland -How much do you pay?

560 with adelaide on vtec vfr...fully comp and breakdown cover. I'm 27 with 2 years ncd.

I was with Axa/Aon for the previous 2 years but they'll never get a cent off me again. Switched cage insurance to a different company a few months back and axa continued to debit my account for 2 or 3 months despite having sent back the cert and disc. Never got the money back.

Caught the cunts doing it again last week with the bike insurance even though my policy was finished and i hadn't renewed it. Got the money back this time but I sure as hell won't be recommending them to a friend

Exact same issue bud, just two days ago. Adelaide jumped €120 on me up to €672 (fully comp on the Blade). Liberty were cheaper, as were Carole Nash, rang back Adelaide, fucked them out of it. They spouted some shite about legal cover, I told them I've no interest in legal cover as the solicitors appointed by insurance companies are pure shite anyway. Told them what the other companies will do it for and low and behold he bettered it on the phone. Down to €421. Saved €250 by making 3 phone calls. Stay away from MCE btw, they weren't even in the ball park at €876. I'm similar to yourself, 4 years ncb and 30 years old.

Re: Bike Insurance in Ireland -How much do you pay?

Instead of a new thread....

Was around €750 last year for TPFT on ZX10R with 0 NCB(as had let it lapse),full license etc ,26 YO

Got the renewal in this year from Cornmarket at €800+

Rang around so....prices are from memory

CN TP €630 TPFT €800 COMP €1070 Excess €400
Principle TP €480 TPFT €530 COMP €780 Excess €???
MCE TP €?? TPFT €580 COMP €704 Excess €600
Axa No quote - wanted 2 year NCB

Rang MCE last so went back to Principle and CN and they wouldn't move on the prices at all.

Rang Cornmarket and told them the story so far so the guy looked into it, said they had forgotten to put the NCB on the renewal quote. He came back and matched the comp price from MCE so I would've been going with them because lower excess and few other things. He said he could try ring the insurer to see if anything else could be done if MCE offered lower again.

MCE rang back and I said would need to drop a good bit due to the excess difference so he dropped €100 first and then €200 down to €500 fully comp.

Rang Cornmarket back, guy asked did I want to drop breakdown cover or legal expenses off to try and make it a bit cheaper, not really I said. So then he read through a few things for a second and said can do it for €480.

So can't complaint from €800 TPFT down to €480 fully comp

Another reason went with Cornmarket is because the MCE guy couldn't tell me how much an additional bike would cost to cover apart from '€50 admin charge minimum'

Cornmarket guy said €25 admin fee and then exampled a Bandit 600 on the system which would be €23 for a whole 12 months so €48, and the €23 charge would lower the further into the year it went
