White smoke out of one exhaust pipe

Hey, folks,
This is kind of a double question, I have a Z750 with a 4 head exhaust and I noticed yesterday smoke coming from one of the exhaust pipes when the bike was running but stationary. I checked the coolant tank to make sure it was full and i can't see any drips or leaks. The question is what might the smoke be and any reason it might only be coming from one of the pipes ( the others are not blocked if I hold my hand over them I can feel them working. I don't think its just condensation because I left the bike running for a bit today and it was doing it every time I stopped on my trip home last night.

Thanks in advance

Re: White smoke out of one exhaust pipe

White smoke is nearly always coolant/water, keep an eye on the coolant to se if its dropping, means head gasket is probably gone, any fear some young fella didnt pour a bottle of water down the pipe? Seen all kinds of things put down exhaust pipes including small gravel that came flying out like a feckin shotgun !!

Re: White smoke out of one exhaust pipe

My bike was in the rain a fair bit over the last 3 days but I let run for a bit and it didn't seem to stop, its only coming from that on pipe on the left which had me think the same about water being tipped in maybe because the way the pipes bend and have a dip.

Re: White smoke out of one exhaust pipe

Most important - Is it steam or is it smoke?
Hold a tissue over the exhaust, it is getting black oil spots?
Check the plugs, is the one on that cylinder getting black, is it a different colour from the others?
Check the coolant, is there any sign of oil in it is the level going down?

Re: White smoke out of one exhaust pipe

Is that 4 into 1 into 4?
Gases should be well mixed before they come out the back. I'd say that pipe is just cooler than the others so the normal moisture in the exhaust is condensing

Yeah it is 4 into 1 into 4.
I will check the plugs and such and put the tissue over the exhaust and see if any oil spots show up,

Cheers.

Re: White smoke out of one exhaust pipe

well if it is 4-1-4 cant be a problem in the cylinders or all pipes would be smoking, either some kid poured water in the pipe or its the lowest one of the four and moisture is collecting in it at its lowest point, nothing to worry about id say.
