What to do when the weather is against you?

Life is unfair. You either have the time and money to do things or no time and no money to do things, and sometimes its in between.
Unfortunately, This summer other commitments have prevented me taking to the road for more than an afternoon.
Looking for recommendations for enjoyable trips that are one day or two day (over night with decent watering holes involved) trips.

So given the not so good weather that we will have for the next six months or so , what would you recommend for one day or two day over overnight trips.

I'm based in the people Republic of Cork, but let that not stand in your way. If you are unfortunate enough to live in Jackeen land and its suburbs you are still invited to respond.

If you have a trip that can be enjoyed over the winter months no matter where you start, shout out. Just bear in mind we are talking about winter months so they must be enjoyable despite any shite weather that may occur

Simply state you starting point, and a rough (or really detailed if you want to put some effort into it) descriptions of a route, and hopefully we will see more bikes on the road over the winter period.
Hopefully I will get some ideas, and maybe other will benefit too.

Anywhere round Kerry love the coastal route to Tralee myself looking across the bay at the macgillycuddys from Cork also I'd try and get as much coast in as possible on the way and go through one of the passes in the kingdom. Not too sure if I understand you though, anywhere on a bike in the lashing rain is pretty miserable unless you are in the Congo and it is hot as Fook.

The wild atlantic way is way better imo in the winter months. Few tourists, weather a bit shit, its pretty cold and lonely

You are perfectly placed to make the most of the ferry to Santander. Ride south on the finest mountain roads in Europe enjoying the warmer weather, amazing views and food and accommodation for a third of what you would pay here in Ireland.

Problem with winter riding in Ireland isn't the weather in my opinion. You could get many days with crispy winter sun. Cold isn't a huge problem once you are properly dressed for it. Main issue is lack of sunlit hours in the day - dark until 9:30 am and dark again by 3:30pm etc.

Actually that's not a bad idea.

the country lanes near me can be lethal at the moment, what with slurry, mounds of leaves that the council never clear, and the road out to ballygran covered in mud. So hard to find an enjoyable route relatively close to me.

Always thought of doing the photo rally but never got the time to do it. Looking at the map all the Munster locations and some of the Leinster locations are doable in a days ride.

Between the wet bits itís fine although my hands were a wee bit numb after the spin today. Anywhere along the west coast is class and much of the tourist traffic has disappeared now.
