Arai's are certainly overpriced for what they are and I hate the side pods...

That said, I've just gone back to Arai after using AGV and Shark for a few years - was never entirely happy with the way they fit my weird shaped head...

Got a great deal on a Chaser in a clearance sale in the UK - perfect fitment for me and works well with my spectacles...

Had Arai's for years and loved 'em in terms of fit and comfort. But the issue with side pods started to boil my piss. Especially as I rarely changed out the visor - rode with a dark visor almost all of the time. So when the side pod lugs broke, and the chin vent lugs broke and the eyebrow vents simply popped out I'd had enough. To top it all off the toggle action of the vents at the top of the lid was gone so they simply rattled in the wind staying neither open or closed. From a premium priced product I expect a lot more. Bits broke even though I was beyond precious in the way I treated and cared for the lid.

Bought myself a Shoei XR1000 to replace the Arai and since then, I've never had to replace a single part. Same goes for the XR1100 that I have now.

As has been said, the likes of HJC, AGV, Shark and others are producing quality lids at much more competitive prices. When shopping for a new lid for herself I was well impressed with the HJC that she decided to opt for - loads of quality features at a seriously competitive price.

Arai Quantum 2 to Caberg Duke & now Caberg Droid (mistake don't)

Found the fit to be almost identical. Finish much the same between the Arai and Caberg. The Duke is a superior helmet to the Droid.

had them all over the last 35 years,

Shoei ,good helmet insides flatten after a year or so,

AGV, good lid bit too much noise and small ope

Arai, costly but top quality build little noise also

Shark, simpson, craft,Nolan,Boxer all in same bracket average to me

i have an rx7v at the moment and like it a lot, little bit of noise but very comfy

good vision and vents

Was looking at the droid online and was thinking of purchasing come payday. What's the problem with it in your opinion?
Have had the justissimo and sintesi models in the past so am familiar with the brand.

Agree that Arai are over priced but by far my favourite lid I've owned over Schuberth, Shoei and Shark.. But what would I know, I ride a BMW.

Actually looking for a new helmet right now for a naked bike (Kwaka Z900). I was thinking of trying the GT Air. Every helmet review seems to recommend the Arai Defiant. Anybody got any other opinions?

Always liked Suomys but lately they've slimmed down there range a huge amount and now only really make one proper race lid, the SR Sport. Bit disappointed with the spec with only 2 shell sizes which is a bit more suited to budget helmets. Supposed to be a pretty nice lid though

Feck ya forgot about Nexx, Portuguese company doing very nicely making some real nice lids at great prices. had one of there Nexx XR1R Carbons a few years back and found it a really nice, well made lid. Seriously light too. I can remember MCN calling it the best helmet ever made or some shite, but in all fairness it was a lovely yoke to wear.
