Cagiva Elefant, what to look out for?

Friend of mine is selling a cagiva elefant, im considering making an offer however im unsure of the pitfalls of these bikes, know all about the ducati v twin service schedule as ive had a 900ss duc and i know what to look out for on most jap bikes but i know very little about these bikes, has anyone owned one before and have any insight?

I believe it has a similar engine to the Ss that you had! Something different and I'd like one.

People are into them because they are rare and a bit of cult status. Most things Italian are, Ive done it myself, but I'll never buy another Lamborghini
