bike options new full license

Alrite lads, passed the test today. I have 1 years no claims on the FZ6 and was trying to get quotes for something more powerful, chanced me arm for a busa and vtr1000 quote and was refused(as i expected), i even tried a vfr800 thinking it was a safe bet but same, ill need 1 year no claims with the full license apparently. Does that mean 1 year now from my renewal in may, or from today?

Am i just being impatient or anyone know what i could graduate to now with a brand new full license.

cheers

Ya, don't think you'll get away with anything too powerful until you get your 1 year no claim with the full license. How old are you?

In my case, I got my full license at 33 years of age and in order to get a proper bike I had to do the rider assessment with my I.B.T. guy, if you get a 2 or higher to show that you're a safe rider, some insurance companies will allow you to register something bigger.... not sure about a busa though, but might get away with a VFR800 or similar.

The natural progression from your FZ6 would be an MT07, probably not that much more powerful but a really fun bike.

Re: bike options new full license

I went from a N250 to a N650 with me gettting my full license 1.5m before my renewal, a saucy increase of insurance from €440-719. Im 37. A Ninja 600 was not insurable as i tried a quote for the laugh so you will have to wait id say.

Went from zzr400 to a zx9r after passing my test the difference was a lot of fun shall we say, was a few years ago so Donno how itís works now, as said your age will probably have something to do with it.

..has the requirements changed? I thought even with a full license you remain restricted to 33hp for 3 years...?

License wise, definitely not. You can have more powerful bikes even on a Learner permit if you're doing all the modules for the Full A license, the issue is getting insured and the rule of thumb for them seems to be 1 year full license no claim so they can charge you an arm and a leg for the privilege
