Having owned some quirky bikes in the past (old K100 beemer, Buell Uly) I have been looking at and reading reviews of the Norge for some time now. Supposedly the 2011 bike had a lot of the issues sorted that plagued the earlier bikes. The Pan and the RT wont fit down my side passageway and I just dont like the fjr
Anyone of ye ever owned one and am I mad considering one? |

I know people give out about MCN but I always find their bike reviews beneficial when someone is looking for/at a bike they're not familiar with

The only one I came across had fierce electrical problems, then the fuel pump failed, then the ecu shat itself....can’t speak for them in general but that yoke was a can of worms and it had fuck all miles on it

Well yeah,it’s like sore thumb though. Literally the only one I’ve come across...do some research on them, the die hards that own them will have figured work arounds for common issues by now. The thing is,every other bike you mentioned I could tell you a litany of issues I’ve dealt with on. So if the Guzzi is your thing, then make it so,you could buy any used bike and end up nursing it between workshops, luck of the draw

I know a lad who has a moto guzzi California and has put alot of miles in it... around the continent a few times on it... he has a norge aswell... if you book face moto guzzi ireland you will see him. He does all of his own maintenance and knows his guzzis inside and out... if there's a problem with them hell have known about it.. and more than likely knows the fix aswell....

I bought a 2014 registered across the water in late 2016. One owner, 5k miles, full service history - lovely. Very comfy, had the electric screen and heated grips.
But, afraid to say that it did start throwing up issues a few months in. It sometimes cut out at low revs and the OBC would throw up a coil fault. Then the oil pressure switch went and it took about 10 days to get a replacement from the UK. Niggly stuff but it was very nice when it all worked. I sold it in late 2017 to a guy in Bray and he had it back on the market last summer. Not sure if he sold it in the end. |

guzzi,s in general are fairly bomb proof but u got to allow for the odd issue.look up guzzi forums from around the world and u will get all the advise u need,i own a 1100 for 20 years and proved to be more reliable then then most japs i owned,if its your type of bike go for it u will not be disappointed.oh and if its a 4 valve make sure it has the roller bearing valve conversion

if you get it cheap you can sell it cheap (quick), if you pay too much you might take a big hit if you need to sell it sooner rather than later, just a thought.

You will be doing your own maintenance, if you're into that side of things, then start thinking about them. Guzzi forums are a goldmine for info, lot of work arounds for common problems. The roller bearing upgrade is a big one. I was (am) entertaining a look at a Stelvio, same basic bike I think. I didn't get too scared of them, but you need to get them cheap, some oddball prices out there.
If you really want to fuck yourself over, look up a Benelli Tre K !!! Would love one of those. I'm into the quirky stuff. |

Not saying you should change your mind or anything, but here's my old one if you wanted to give one a whirl.
