My First Suzuki's World Tour

......of Sligo Yours truly & Mikey H headed for the Wild Northwest on Friday morning. The weather was excellent & we made short work of the journey from Cork to Limerick & then up the new M18 which is roughly from Ennis to Tuam. Then it was on to the N17 (not a Saw Doctor in sight BTW). We stopped to refuel at Knock & then we continued on our merry way until we reached our weekend base at Coolaney, Co. Sligo.
We were bright-eyed & bushy-tailed & ready to go on Saturday morning......but the weather wasn't It quickly turned to absolute shite. We went first to Strandhill & we rode straight into a monsoon there. On to Sligo from there in the pissing rain & later we stopped to pay our respects to Willie Yeats at Drumcliff. Then it was around the Gleniff Horseshoe & from there to Mullaghmore. By then we had realised that going any further north would be a waste of time because of the weather so we headed back to Sligo. The weather was a bit better by then & we headed west as far as Ballina. Then we doubled back towards Tubbercurry via Bunniconnellan & Lough Talt. It was only a short spin from Tubbercurry back to our B&B.
The weather was perfect on Sunday morning so we headed north as we had planned to do on Saturday. Up through Sligo, Grange, Cliffoney & Tullaghan. We had an emergency stop at Bundoran because a wasp decided to fly into one of my sleeves & he stung me six times before I got rid of the bastard Once that emergency had been dealt with we carried on to Ballyshannon, Belleek, Enniskillen, Belcoo & Manorhamilton. On our way back to Sligo from Manorhamilton the heavens opened again & it pissed rain for the rest of the day & night. Fortunately our B&B is also a pub
It was dry when we started on our way home this morning but there were a few heavy showers hanging around & the wind was savage. We got on the M18 near Tuam but I decided to get off it again because of the high winds so we detoured towards Galway & we got on to the 'old' road at Oranmore & used that road (R458) all of the way back to Ennis. We made good way home from there. It was a mighty weekend in spite of the weather & plans are already afoot for another trip next year, destination yet to be decided. Mikey H needs new gloves after the weekend & my shoulder feels like a sadist's voodoo doll at the moment but these things can be sorted out A few piccies......

Ready to rock on Sat. morning. Then the weather took a hand......

It was great that the racing could go ahead, Liam. Another washout like the last time would have been a disaster
