Re: Bike Insurance in Ireland -How much do you pay?

Insurance up in a week or two, with AON for years, full NCB and level 2

€492 for comprehensive on both the Harley and the Triumph explorer, wonder if it would be worth looking around, need 2 bikes insured and breakdown cover abroad (in case the Triumph breaks down )

Re: Bike Insurance in Ireland -How much do you pay?

Hi lads,
apart from the insurance price (I can see my tears with those prices) I want to bring my motorbike from Spain (Kawasaki ER6-N 650cc). I've heard that I have to register it in Ireland (that already means taxes) but I don't know where to go to pay this, or what papers I need...anybody can give me a clue about this?
Thanks!

There is a thread with all vrt and vat info bro. Look for that using the search function and throw up a thread introducing yourself as well in new bikers section.... Always better. Welcome to the site.

Bienvenida Pablo to
If you have previously personally owned your bike for more than 6 months in Spain you do not to pay Vehicle Registration Tax to get an Irish number plate .

Do you need to register your bike here? How long will you be staying?

Aon renewed my insurance yesterday, included bonus protection as a freebie and dropped 15 euro on the premium

Adelaide on the other hand hadn't the decency to ring me back with a quotation, must ring them to ask them to stop spamming me with texts when my next renewal comes around

Re: Bike Insurance in Ireland -How much do you pay?

Picking the bike up tomorrow, tis my first one, (GS500F) - the goose they call it apparently. Please limit the laughing folks, tis low mileage and clean and in budget.

I'm 34, A restricted permit, 0 NCB. Going with Carole Nash for 3PFT, driving other bikes, AA cover and that DNA+ thing where you have to sperm all over your bike to protect it. Cost is €674. Liberty were 20 cheaper with no extras.

Re: Bike Insurance in Ireland -How much do you pay?

01 fazer 600, 27 years old, full licence with at least 7 years. I think my insurance is around 350 maybe a few euros less, its been that way with 3 years now. I wouldn't even bother ringing carol nash. I've done so every year and all its done is cost me a f*****g tenner on credit to be told that I'd need to pay double my current premium with them. Don't understand why anyone would go anywhere near them. Not sure who else is doing it now but I would recommend liberty

€290 FC with Adelaide on the blade with helmet and gear cover thrown in, happy enough with that.

Re: Bike Insurance in Ireland -How much do you pay?

Im just starting out and I haven't got a exact bike yet (reg, year ect.) so I can't get a quote form any insurers but im looking at the yamaha dragstar 125, Does any one know on average how much it would cost for a 30 year old first provisional licence holder in Dublin. I've trawled through this thread and nothing compares to my situation. I have a full car licence for 8 years if it makes a difference??

Try calling them up they usually quote you and tell you the quote is valid for a couple of weeks and that if you want to take the policy you have to provide the exact reg.

Re: Bike Insurance in Ireland -How much do you pay?

Paid 560 last year fully comp with 2 years NCB with CN. Renewal came in at 576 this year with 3 years NCB. After calling CN they dropped it to 535.

Called all the others. AON was having a laugh with their best offer being 840. Liberty came in with 590. MCE couldn't quote me because of an issue (teething problems, as the guy said) with me having a German license. In the end went with Adelaide for 460 and they threw in helmet and leather cover.

AON just cracked me up though

Got a letter today for the other yoke,
"Insureforsure, trading as AonInsure.ie have decided to cease operating a personal lines business and will cease accepting personnel lines business in September..... Identified RSA Insurance as having suitable resource to service your insurance needs..."

Don't have them for the bike at the moment, anyone get this?
"Personnel lines business" just a term for regular insurance, moving on ?

Insurance is up later this month, the letter from Adelaide came in a while back at 360. Im 33 with full license and 3 yrs no claims. Have bills coming out my ears so put it on the 'to do list'
Yer man from Adelaide rings yesterday and I explain my situation, I say how much was it again? 360, Ah right I see, can you do anything on that? Hang on I'll see.
Comes back at 315, happy days. If you don't ask you don't get and every saved penny helps these days

This sort of thing pisses me off, why can't they ask for 315 in the first place???? Wake up insurance companies and quote REAL prices and stop trying to rip us off!

Agree with you but unfortunately that's the way they are. There was a guy on the radio a while back saying that some of the big companies will offer new customers better rates than existing loyal ones!! A pain in the hole but I can't see them changing their ways. Always worth shopping around at renewal time
