Re: Crash Camera - do you?

It would be my desire to simply provide video evidence which gives anyone who watched it a pretty good understanding of "what really happened" and to establish credibility (who's telling the truth, and who's not) - and not to necessarily provide any accurate measure of exact speed or anything else.

Definitely a useful tool for Bike/car, its better to have the proof than to go looking for it, I'll keep mine on daily.
Might buy one for the car surprising they don't have them built into the cars at this stage being so useful.

I give it 5 years. Most all new cages already have reversing cameras; front and side cameras will be needed for "collision avoidance" systems, so it's a logical next step in the move toward self-driving vehicles.

To make a case of undue care ... he also happened to loose three witnesses in total, two of whom would have had view of the actual impact. Apparently cops are under no obligation to produce any witnesses to any incident where they are already on the scene.

Directly post accident he tried to prevent me from removing a tank bag (magnetic fixed) from my then seized bike, it was a casual remark from a fire brigade guy at the scene that halted him in his tracks. In short, if the footage data is secured to your person when ya dismount the bike, then your go pro peace of mind is not worth a shite.

It won't stand in court and what land are you living in?
Nothing gets measures unless some one unfortunately dies.
Fuck all guards in the country ever go to the scene of an accident after the fact to measure jack shit cos they are overworked as it is.

The UK do it right and we are 20 years behind...
But I prefer Ireland where you can get a bit of discretion!

Don't follow you here? Are you saying the footage was no use? Why was your bike seized? What did the fireman say?

Re: Crash Camera - do you?

Bike wasn't legal, no insurance, hence his seizure.

He was trying to retrieve the bag back from me after I'd pulled it free. Fireman mentioned fact it was not fixed to the bike.

I didn't have a camera mounted. What I'm saying is, if you are not in a position to secure the evidence post incident - for whatever reason, ya are at the mercy of others and they may not have your best interests at heart. In my case he would have lost the footage along with said witnesses.

While I accept I'm the only crim' here, everyone else would have insurance. My question to one and all is, who will safeguard any bike mounted camera footage if the biker is incapacitated.

My friend pursued that charge for two years, he only dropped it when I fired my council and acquired a real solicitor.

Don't get me wrong, cameras are useful, but they all have serious limitations which should be considered prior to purchase.

I donít drive anything without one, sad thing is in Ireland cops donít want to know, not admissible... GDPR... bollixology. In Uk they take the footage seriously, there is even a function on my app (nextbase) to send the footage direct to cops for evidence, as usual we are about 30 years behind the brits

Re: Crash Camera - do you?

Mine is Wifi connected and I can hook it up to my phone for control/download if it was the case it was confiscated by the guards but they are used in cases against the defendant.
They use CCTV or fixed camera positions and the guards are always seeking the publics assistance for for dash cam footage.

Keep using them or go buy one, better to have than not to have!

Re: Crash Camera - do you?

If a woman's underwear is used as evidence in court for a sexual assault case, something for which there is no relationship whatsoever to the alleged event, then a video - an independent third party witness - of the specific event in question, has got to be admissible. If your insurance co's solicitor can't make that happen, they should get another job.

precisely.

You can present any evidence you want in a court case, Its up to the judge to decide whether it is inadmissible or not, NOT the gardai.

In fact if a guard refuses to accept or use video footage that you provide as support for your case I would be pretty certain they leave themselves open to a civil case against them if the case goes against you.

Yeah, given that he himself provided the evidence needed for a conviction. Cops wouldn't have had a leg to stand on otherwise.

While I agree with; "if ya can't do the time, don't do the crime". Lets just say that chap must be really strapped for street cred' if he had to make a point of getting caught..

Re: Crash Camera - do you?

Following on: I've now ditched the Innovv C3, because it won't accept an updated config file to correct the date/timestamp, so it is permanently thinking it's 2014, and it won't turn on/off with power on/off, meaning I'd have to manually turn it on and off to use it.

As a result, I've upgraded to a DV188 1080p 130-degree front and rear waterproof cameras. Turns on/off w/the bike (wired direct), there's a handy little button mounted on the bars that lets me take a snapshot (short press), or lock the current video file so it's not overwritten (long press). Very good quality connections, comes with all the hardware you'd need (3M sticky pads and zip ties etc), so very easy to install and manage. All you really need is to tap into an ignition-controlled on/off wire (the taillight works well).

Considering if he had have robbed the bike, drove it around with a bottle of acid which he then fucked in somebody's face, beat the shit out of them in broad daylight and stole their shit he would have most likely gotten nothing - it's a fucking disgrace.
