180 tyre on a 6x17 rear wheel

Fitting a 180/55/17 tyre onto a 6x17 rear wheel.
Safe or not safe?

Thanks.

What tyre is on it as standard?? as you looking to raise or lower the back end?? faster turn in etc

Sorry is a 6 not a standard 190 and 5.5 180??

you'll have a taller profile which will help the turn in .. Some reckon the wider ones are better for wheelies

It should be ok. Check the tyre manufacturers specs to be sure.

The Avon 180/55/17 on my bike is specified as:
Recommended: 5.5 Alternative 5.5-6.0
so it would be ok on a 6" rim.

If you are fitting non-standard sizes, check clearance carefully.
Make sure that any ABS or TC systems are able to tolerate running
a slightly different profile.

What's wrong with asking the audience what size rubber you should use for the best ride
