He's at it again

Allen Millyard is at it again, this time he's building a Z900 based 6 cyl.
I've been following his work on farcebook for the last while and he's got the motor running.
First start,sounds awesome.

Re: He's at it again

you have just got to love home garage engineers.

Sadly a dying breed, but we are lucky to have one of our own on this forum in I polished one off to a dude

Not interested in trains, steam engine or any of that sort of stuff but I did enjoy watch Fred Dibnah

There's simply not enough of them about nowadays. When bikes go totally electric there will be even fewer

The main difference with Allen Millyard is he does all the work in his head, old school like,
no computer aided bolloxoligy with him.
And he's a really unassuming guy.Talking to him you'd think his work is nothing special.
I asked him once about the Flying Millyard and he told me he designed and made the crankcases himself,as you do.Like it was something normal that you'd do everyday

I think he does the measuring and cutting then sends out the specialist welding and stuff.
I'd say he has a better set up than me though

He must have a fairly good setup alright. I'd be very interested to know how he made the crankshaft and the engine casings as you would have to think that would be tricky.

Still fair play to the guy. Must have plenty of time on his hands.

He does great work either way regardless. I've seen him in action at a show in Stafford many years ago and was very impressive. Keep it up I say...

I got a job looking after an old lad's collection of bikes around 20 years ago, while he went off round the world with his wife. He had about 80 or 90 bikes in total in 3 sheds on the grounds, and every one of them was a classic or collectible, including a few he'd built himself for racing. He'd cast the engine and gearbox casings himself, and built his own engines from scratch... but he owned an engineering company, and all of the work was carried out by them. There's not much you can't do it you have enough money.

Serious. If I go to replace a throttle cable it's a fair bet I'd fk something up and it wouldn't start/backfire/or rev to bejesus if/when it eventually does. .

He builds an entirely new engine from scratch, sets it on a rickety table, climbs on that to fire it up - and the damn thing starts 1st kick and idles like it's just come out of the showroom

He's so cool & easy going.

Oh..."I need to make myself a 30 tooth sprocket"
I'd say there's nothing he can't do mechanically.
