Default Sickening.

Words fail me. 10 fucking months, what will he serve? 5 max?

https://www.independent.ie/irish-new...-36579677.html

"McArdle, who has six previous convictions, had been disqualified from driving for six years a year before the crash for drink-driving. He was disqualified for a further 10 years last year for more driving-related offences. "

Reading the article is quite frankly, hard to stomach.

"But, he said, the fact that McArdle should not have been lawfully driving was a severely aggravating factor. He said but for this he could consider a non-custodial sentence."

So, if he had a slightly cleaner record he wouldn't have been jailed at all?

"McArdle was driving on the wrong side of the road for up to ten seconds, during which time he met the motorcyclists. "

"McArdle .......mistakenly believed that there was an element of speed on the part of Mr Korytowski and that he had been driving on the right side of the road. When shown CCTV footage of the event, McArdle was “taken aback” by what he saw..."

So he was claiming that the biker was speeding (don't they all), and he was driving his truck on the right side of the road, then he had to shut his fucking mouth when he saw the CCTV that proved otherwise.

Basically lads, if you didn't already know it, we're fucked. I'm beyond angry, I'm sad and depressed. Heart goes out to his wife and two kids.

Sickening.

That judge should have to explain to that poor widow his reasoning for the lenient sentence, she should be allowed question him and the transcript of the meeting should be made public.

These fuckers just go about their fucking business with impunity........it's so very wrong.

apparently the victim impact statement from the wife of the motorcyclist wasnt even read in court.

Hard to see where the justice is in our courts anymore.

Must have been yet another kick in the stomach for the poor wife, to lose her husband through no fault of his own, find out the killer of her husband had no right be driving any vehicle let alone a fecking great big truck and now this, a few months in prison which in all likelihood will end up being a matter of weeks. My heart goes out to her.

Just goes to show you it pays in this country to have friends in high places.
10 months for killing a person - what a fucking joke. How any judge can sleep at night I beyond me. As per comment earlier he would be serving years if he was caught fiddling his tax returns.

Country's a joke.

I wouldn't be the least surprised if the judge didn't recommend to the poor truck driver he seek compensation against the widow and kids for the shock he received.

Driving under a double ban.
Driving on the wrong side of the road.
Lying to the cops to try cover his actions.
Causing the death of a family man.

A picture a virtue and innocence.

'Judge Nolan said he was aware that McArdle was remorseful and was in many ways a very good man who had worked all his life. He also noted McArdle's history alcohol problems.'

I genuinely never understand why things like this are factors at all.

He caused someone's death. He has a history of offences and bans etc.

10 months?! Come on.

It's a licence to kill, imagine what would happen if a full licenced and insured driver would have killed him.
