Default MidWest Overnighter 2018

Lots of folks have trips planned for May/June and August/September so July seems to be the best choice this year...

Starting this early but getting a reasonably priced hotel in the middle of summer at short notice could be tricky...

Would like to get an idea of numbers in the next few weeks and get something booked...

We've been alternating between Donegal and Cork for the last 4 years, maybe it's time for a change...

Someone mentioned Carlingford as a destination - what ye think?

The N52 should be a decent route...

Weekend options are...

No.1 July 14/15
No.2 July 21/22
No.3 July 28/29

If yer up for it let me know what weekend suits and we'll go with what works for most people.

Feel free to propose alternative destinations...

the Four Seasons is already booked out for July 14/15.
The other Saturday nights they're charging €142. thats one person in the room. Definitely not cheap, and probably beyond what I could afford. (sorry didnt get price for 2 people sharing).

I'd imagine those prices will only go up as the weeks go by.

Never stayed in Carlingford, whats it like for B&B's or campsites?

Seaside village stags & hens from north & south . Would be looking at Dundalk for some where to stay.some good road in that area. And there is new boat from Grenore to greencastle in Northern Ireland and the road to downpatrick has it all.

What about Connemara as a location, maybe using Westport, Galway, Ballina or Sligo as a base... prices may be a little more reasonable and location is well away from the Jackeens who if they attend will only be ready for bed by the time they find Mayo!

Only a suggestion, don't shoot the messenger!

The idea is to get as far AWAY from Connemara as possible. Maybe see what it's like to ride a bike when its NOT actually raining. Anywhere that isn't Connaught would suit just grand.

A little too close to home...

Ok - Carlingford isn't going to work out...
Not enough availability with the smaller hotels, Four Seasons is way too expensive and won't give a group rate...

I'm thinking Donegal again might be the best choice - looking at a couple of options - update to follow...

All suggestions welcome...

Jeesis Bob - have ye not got enough sheep out your way? I vote Wexford town. Sun, roads, pubs, sun, chape strawbreeze, no rain, exotic accents and far enough away from Dublin to keep the mouth-breathers from invading. It's got it all really.

I like that plan...

Wexford it is

First round is on you if it rains though...

This looks to be the best option for a hotel...

https://www.claytonwhiteshotel.com/

85 B&B pps

They have availability for these weekends:

14th/15th or 21st/22nd

If no one has any objections I'll give it a little while longer to see which weekend suits most people and get it booked...
