Shite Tyre right angled valves

Mate of mine got two of these right angled valves fitted to his FJR 1300. Rear one split at the rim. It nearly fucked him off the bike due to loss of air. Very bad design as the can easily break off at the edge of the rim. If you have these fitted to you bike change them. He was lucky to be able to tell the story.

What the fuck. They look like someone's attemped to make a right angle vavle out of a regular valve by bending it in the middle. They have to be the cheapest chinese lookin shite that I've ever seen!

Re: Shite Tyre right angled valves

Never put one of those on a bike or on anything that goes over 10 mph. The centrifugal force bends fuck out of it and will always result in that failure.
There's a reason bike valves are straight and short. That's the reason.

Have to use the angled valved yolks on the Bonnie's spoked wheels, but only use 'em when topping the air, other than that they stay firmly in a jacket pocket

And always replace the valve stems when you change tyres.
They get battered by weather and locks and chains.

Re: Shite Tyre right angled valves

My Valk came with those type of valves as stock (same as the GoldWings) and they are notorious for failing.

I changed them out for a set of these - https://www.biketyresleeds.com/alumi...ver-p-126.html

10 years and many tyres later, they are one (or a pair) of my better mods.

Re: Shite Tyre right angled valves

..jesus ... why would you fit those? I know some bike wheel valves are a complete pain to access ... you should try spoke wheels and a rigid air hose for a pain in the hole experience.

Bought a flexible hose with valve in Halfords...does the trick..

Re: Shite Tyre right angled valves

Proper angle valves like what Cotter MC or GP Motos sell......orr off ebay......job done.
And fit them pointing the opposite way to your side stand......for obvious reasons.

Then you have no issues with getting the air pump hose on the wheel in the petrol station.
Simples.

I have the addon right angled valve which I only put on when I want to put air in - otherwise it lives in my jacket pocket

Re: Shite Tyre right angled valves

Just picked up one of these in Aldi and is a great job so far - https://www.aldi.ie/12v-li-ion-mini-...18239285168700

Comes with a 3 year warraty too !
Been through many foot pumps through the years, so having a warranty of this length will prove useful no doubt....

The gauge is accurate too as I had tested a few tyres with a handheld one afterwards.

Looks like they are only a push fit from the inside. Need to be screwed on or straight along with the adapter in your pocket
