Default KTM 1290 superduke R owners

Toying with the idea of getting rid of my S1000RR and have heard those superdukes are suppose to be one of the most fun bikes to ride.

Mate of mine thinks im half mad to want to get one over the s1000rr

Cant say im not impressed with the bmw or it has let me down ever.

Half wanting a change and not having to go a million miles an hour.

Upsides and downsides to owning one?

Any input from any Beast owners welcome!

Default Re: KTM 1290 superduke R owners

I donít own one but I had a loan of one for 3 weeks...after 2 days I wanted to buy one. After a week I had I stern talking to from the law and stopped using it for a week. I used it again for another few days for testing and was bitter sweet handing the keys back.

My opinion, there is no other bike like them. Full of lunacy if the mood takes you,but at the same time a very comfortable bike that you could do mileage on no problem. The clutch casings can go porous, the one I was using had that issue.

The biggest issue with them is trying to control your right hand....and itís not to wank over them, too fucking ugly looking for that

3 weeks!! Please tell me the shop that gives 3 weeks test rides on those machines

Yeah I already own a 690 smcr and do wash and acf 50 the casings regularly so that wouldn’t really bother me.

What bike do you have and were tempted to pull the trigger on the ktm?

And go on for the laugh.... what speed were you caught at on the back wheel?? Haha

I'll possibly have one here for sale in a few weeks, fully specced up R model. Its a few months old only, brother bought it but coming from an analogue 09 RSV4 he just cant gel with the upright riding position and all the electronics. i'm surprised because i've always wanted one after reading the reviews but I think its hard to beat the V4 Tuono for supernaked laughs. Mags always rated the V4 Tuono as "best supernaked" too. Definitely worth a look!

I want one! It's the only thing I want to upgrade to. Prices in the UK are balloobas even for standard SDRs though.

I have a 14' beast for the past two and half years and what your hearing from people is bang on. Light, narrow a blast to ride even filtering through traffic with hand guards i ve fitted, also the heated grips make thing comfortable even though little protection else where. I seriously thick its one of the best bikes i have owned in last 25 years . Only issue i have are only there are only 2 dealers in the country, 1 in Dublin the other in the north and im living in the south .By the way this one is for sale wit a Werx pipe which has the addictive V twin rumble. O ya check for insurance first before u buy because only few companies will quote . Check out Principle and Carol nash

Don't let the dealer situation worry you. Between McCallens and Fowlersparts, you'll be able to get bits dispatched in a hurry.

I've had one for almost 2 years now and have done around 15000km on it (no commuting). It's a fantastic road yoke - I'd go as far to say that nothing is as good for what I want - an involving, crazy yoke that is all day comfortable and can go between pottering around enjoying the sc.enery and trying to fuck you at the sc.enery with the twist of a throttle.

I'd try get one with the full system and SAS removed etc as it's a major difference to the stock bike. Also if it's a 17 onwards you need the track pack to turn off the very intrusive anti wheelie.

It steers nicely, has great brakes and is ridiculously fast on typical Irish backroads. I've done 500km in a day a few times with no bother at all and if you want to wheelie it will come up off the power in 1st - 4th easily and 5th if you hit any sort of slight rise in the road. When you do push it on and open up the engine it gets very crazy with the combination of upright position, light front end and big power. I'd recommend a steering damper if you are going to be fooking around a lot.

The only thing I'd sell it for would be another one - Ive tried the MT10SP and Tuono V4 and they are great yokes, but don't really do the same thing. They are certainly more refined and easier to use though.

No offers. So if someone were to offer 12.900 you wouldn't sell it because of no offers policy? Would you say learn to read the ad and vilify the potential customer?
No test rides. Why not? You have something to hide? Oh you're a little child you cannot handle the s1000rr, it's for the big boyz only logic.
