Default Insurance Time again..

1 year on the S1000XR has gone by so fast, I was insured with Principal, fully comp for 660, decided to give the Nashes a call and after over 25 minutes on the phone they came back with ......1400.00 and 73 cents....I laughed and joked about this and they told me to hold on for another few minutes and guess what ? they came back with 690 ? some drop in price ? Going to give Liberty a shot today and see how much they can offer. I'm in the early 40's 4 years NCB and full licence 5 years, previous bike was a CBR 600rr.

Robber Nash did the same with me 1500 fully comp told em i could get it for under half of that, 5 minutes later they were able to match it. Try anything for a quick buck.

On principal (no pun intended)......I wouldn't give them the business because of that. I'd rather pay an extra few bob to whoever was honest with the quote from the get go!

They offered me a rather unsavoury quote given my age, the area I'm in and the fact I have 2 KTMs. MCE was half the price. Didn't bother me arse ringing them back. They should scrap that shitty bike show and pass the savings on to the consumer

Quotes between us are not comparable as they are a million factors which will affect the quote, it's not down to bike, experience and NCB alone. Things like where you park your bike, area that you live, risk category of the bike, etc will all change the numbers.

There's no other solution than to call them all, then call them back and do a last 3rd round to see who goes the lower. For me, Principal are always the lowest by a long shot, hopefully this doesn't change much when they have to go to underwriters outside of the UK (brexit and shite)

I'm due my renewal from Principal in a few days, I'm expecting it to go up as they are using AXA now as their underwriters, mine was also just under 300 last year.

Make sure when comparing prices that you are comparing "apples" with "apples"
NCB protection
European breakdown
Riding of other bikes
Riding gear insurance
Personal injury cover (for yourself)
Legal cover etc, etc, etc

Just renewed with CN, they're renewal quote was insulting but it dropped after a phone call & a mini rant. Still more expensive than last year by 40, "insurance costs are rising all over" blah de blah, I was not a happy bunny and they were firm in that being the final price.

Rang others, Liberty wouldn't quote me on the S1000R, AXA were twice the price and MCE were 4 times the price!! And they have an excess of 1,500!

Renewal quote came in from CN a couple of weeks ago €364 for the ZRX.

A phone call later I paid them €268 for fully comp, pillion, breakdown, other bikes & legal costs.

I'm only fully licensed since last May mind.
