Lads

Bought a 2011 Vstrom for the commute, my back just couldnt take the cbr anymore on a daily basis, having purchased the V Strom I thought I was in for miles and miles of riding in comfort but once i got it out onto the motorway the wind noise and buffeting was so bad I thought my ears were going to start bleeding. Feel like a bobble head driving down the road. Have tried multiple different lids but made no difference.

So anyone had the same issue and if so any recommendations for reducing the wind noise, thinking new screen but dont want to spend the sheckles if its not going to fix the issue ?

I had the same issue with my vstrom, it will take a good bit of tweaking to fix it for you.
But i guarantee 80% of it is caused by the mirrors, the placement of them is creating a wind tunnel with your head in the middle.

Unscrew the mirrors then go for a quick spin and see what difference it makes. If its better then switch to Aprilia Tuono mirrors.

Next step i done was a screen swap to MRA vario. Another highly rated screen was a Givi Airflow but i never tried it as the MRA worked for me.

With both the mirrors and screen done easily 95% of the buffeting vanished

Modifications: Tyres, when necessary on

wear ear plugs, always, my hearing is fucked from it so take heed before its too late, generally a taller screen does help with buffeting but sometimes funnily enough so does a smaller one as it allows a clear airflow to the helmet which is often better than the disturbed airflow from a screen that is wrong for your height.

Motorbike: Suzuki DL650 V STROM..
Default Re: V Strom 650

Im now on my 6th DL650 V Strom SINCE 2006.....in between owning many other makes and models, but i always return to the dl 650 for everyday use, i have never known about the mirror swap out, the standard screen is the main culprate in my book , change for MRA TWIN FOIL SCREEN..great piece of equipment.. AND you have to get yourself some ear plugs, i buy around 100 pairs at a time , they do me for a couple of years....softest foam ones can be worn all day..... ....

These are the ones i use and recommend........

I'm on my second Vstrom....the simplest answer is mirror extenders and MRA screen
My 2007 Vstrom had these & made a world of difference to noise & buffeting.
However my second 2015 model came with a Givi Airflow screen & is even better again.
Just my opinion & advice as it's a brilliant all round bike otherwise.
