Ryanair

Just a heads up on flying to the Uk wit Ryanair, may be common knowledge but just in case. Was flying over to brexit land to pick up a bike a few days ago. Bunged all my stuff, lid gloves scarf, repair kit into a small bag (will fit in overhead lockers btw) and off I go.
When yer wan took out the repair kit I knew there and then there was going to be an issue. The reaming tool' I suppose could be a lethal weapon and the co2 cannisters were a no no. Explained what they were for to the nice lady only to be told that the only ones they allow onboard are for inflating life rafts vests etc. In the end she took 2 off me and left me with 2 (??)
She did empty everything out and go throught it with a fine tooth comb. Lots of questions and good frisking later (it was a fella - bummer) was let go on my way. Anway, moral of the story - ye know......

Re: Ryanair

I would imagine a complete nutter could actually bring down a plane with a reeming tool. Fairly dangerous if used in anger. Ask my tire..

Re: Ryanair

I'm really surprised that stabbing weapons aren't allowed in carry-on luggage. I mean what could possibly go wrong?

Nah... what I'm actually surprised at is that you thought it would be OK

Re: Ryanair

Didn't think it would be ok as I threw all the shit that I needed into a bag heading out the door. It was only when she opened the pouch that it dawned on me, oh crap!
It's called forgetfulness. Some people suffer from it....

Re: Ryanair

I just think it's a bit funny that they confiscate things like bottles of liquid, because it could potentially be a bomb (or an ingredient for a bomb) and they throw it in a bin, piled on top of all the other potential bombs that they've confiscated, in one of the most congested parts of the airport.

The pusyness comes out in this one. Take away the belts too and shoe laces since they can very easily be used for garroting someone. Also any pencils or pens should be taken away as they can be used as stabbing instruments. Dicks should also be chopped off to avoid potential rapes on aircraft.

Re: Ryanair

I never thought I was going to say this but, it's not ryanair's fault.

That's just an aviation/security standard and you pretty much just had a "forbidden items kit".

I mean, signs and warnings are literally everywhere.

Re: Ryanair

Years ago I stupidly thought I could bring a socket set in my hand luggage home from Canada . (Canadian Tire good quality and great value).
It was pointed out to me I could start dismantling the aircraft with it .
I was lucky , they let me run back to the checked luggage desk where my checked bag was retrieved and let me throw it in , despite it being right on the weight limit .

So totes there's a very real danger passengers might be tempted to go out on deck at 30k+ feet and start playing with the engines.

It is in effect a form of hate speech really, but in their defense they're not being discriminatory as those xenophobic's hate all their passengers equally.
