Default RevUp 2018

From Down Syndrome Ireland:

To whom it may concern

Following an extensive review and discussions by ourselves in Down Syndrome Ireland, we regretfully announce that we have made the very difficult decision that we will no longer be holding our annual RevUp4DSI charity motorcycle run that takes place each May Bank holiday weekend. This is purely a business decision, as the fundraising return on investment for this event is no longer sustainable by the organisation. In addition, our limited fundraising resources are stretched and we just donít have the manpower to plan and manage such a large scale annual event. As you can imagine, this has been a most difficult decision for the DSI Team to make and we really do hope that you understand our reasons for making it.

On behalf of all our members and staff, we would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of the RevUp participants, volunteers and sponsors for their incredible support over the past 12 years. In that time, over Ä1.6 million has been raised for Down Syndrome Ireland, an amazing amount of money that has directly benefitted the lives of countless children and adults with Down Syndrome, and their families throughout Ireland.

We would also like to sincerely thank The Dead Ducks Motorcycle Club, a group of motorcyclists set up specifically to liaise with Down Syndrome Ireland, who put in a huge amount of work over the years and helped make RevUp4DSI what it was. Going forward, The Dead Ducks have decided to organise a separate new event for a related cause in memory of our late colleague and friend, Aidan Lynam, who started RevUp4DSI back in 2006. Details of this new event and its chosen benefactor will be posted on the Dead Ducks bookface page, so please keep an eye out for it.

Finally, I would like to thank you all for Sharing the Journey with us!

Yours sincerely

Gary Owens
Chief Executive Officer
As most of you will know by now, Down Syndrome Ireland have made the decision to no longer continue the RevUp4DSI run.

Rather than let the best biking weekend of the year go, the Dead Ducks have agreed to take on the task of organising next years run, simply titled RevUp.

We're in the final stages of securing the hotel for next year and expect to have registration for RevUp 2018 open by the start of next week.

We have a company onboard to help professionally manage the admin side of the things (Meet & Assist Ireland) and while we're not going to mess with the formula of RevUp, there will be small changes made as a result of the feedback we've received from the last few years. A full brief is to follow later this week and we think you'll all be well impressed.

RevUp will go on

The work Magnets started over a decade ago will continue

We still need your help, please bare with us while we get all our ducks in a row.

Sad to hear that it is no longer viable for DSI, but it is great that it is still going ahead :) Fair play all involved, not an easy task but well worth it from what I hear.

Good to hear that this is not going to die.
Please post info on biker.ie as I don't do face book.
I am available to assist in organising if there is anything I can do.

Yep, quick one, we've finally gotten the Everyday Hero end sorted so once you register you can get your online fundraising started.

Website content is finished, just waiting on the host to make it live.

We intend to do a soft launch and do a mail shot to all previous participants we have details for, then we'll post publicly that registration is open.
