Yamaha Townmate - Before and After

Finially i got around to getting some work carried out on the Yamaha townmate that I picked up in May. It turns out that there was a little more work that first thought - I'm sure I'm not the first and I won't be the last to be in this position.

This is a picture of my Yamaha Townmate when I picked it up.

After much consultation I decided to get the casing, drive shaft and frame sandblasted and powder coated.

And then stuck on a set of michelin wets;

The tank didn't stand up to the sandblasting too well so I'm looking for suggestions - To me it looks like I need a a new tank, this one's gone past repair. Anyone know where I can find one?

Shiney bits go on next week - Have to say I'm really looking forward to getting it up and running.

Re: Yamaha Townmate - Before and After

If you can get a new or good secondhand tank it would be the way to go alright but failing that it should be possible to weld it up and seal it with por15 or similar, new paint looks well
Love to see it finished.

Starting to come together. Zane in swords is doing most of the work for me. He's doing a fantastic job. He's taking such pride it's as if it was his own bike. Look at the small details like replacing allthe bolts with stainless... The new shock is the business

Re: Yamaha Townmate - Before and After

Just wondering, As they seem a good 90% similar to the honda cubs apart from the shaft drive, are any of the parts interchangable? cause there's one going near me pretty cheap, and the GN is pretty shagged now.
