currently have a Suzuki Address 110 Address, looking for a scoot with more power for longer trips. any dealers around the country stock Yamaha xmax and Suzuki Burgman 125, 250 and 400 cc scooters ? would also look at used bikes.

Re: scooter purchase

Xmax 250 hard to beat. Yamaha have a new 300 due this May. Seriously nice scoot, more power than 250. Its gonne be 6500 appx.

Also the current xmax 400 is on same chassis as current 250 but twice the power & torque.

Check out the 300 here:

https://m.yamaha-motor.eu/ie/product...rt/x-max-300a/

New engine etc & few tweeks.

Current 250 will cruise at 100kms but if doing a lot of motorway go bigger. Tmax 530 is savage but big money. None here go abroad to buy.

I would go for the Yamaha 250 or 300 no problem but they are outside the requirments for an A1 licence. a minimum 400 cc scooter needed to do the A2 test, that would cover these. is there anywhere to hire out a 400cc scooter for a test.

Re: scooter purchase

The xmax 400 is not half the scooter of the 250...build quality is just not the same. They are more similar to the majesty in terms of durability. Xmax 300 is going to be keyless start and quite up to date so might be worth hanging on for it

Just seeing they are outside your requirements, the next choice would be tmax, early ones can be gotten cheap and are quite good but the latest 530 is the right job, handle well, narrow and are well able for the motorway

just reading a couple of reviews re the thew xmax 300, a german and french journo. Both said the brakes on the new 300 are rubbish, and that the ABS is way too intrusive. I find this ABS issue on my 250. Its cutting in way before it should, and you are overshooting your braking mark. Id take the abs fuse out, but the light on the dash would bug me. Suppose if you ride bikes and scooters you will lean the scooter more and approach braking differently. But its a poor show really. Brakes always seem to be an issue with some yamaha models, including new r1 which has had same criticism....

Same can be said re ground clearance, the reviews on the new 300 said it bottoms out, but it is only after additional lean - where the majority of scooter riders wont lean to, again, i find this myself, grind out cntr stand. Its annoying.

but not bad feedback, brakes are the only gripe. But they are important.

take the bulb for abs light out of the dash, as well as the fuse - problem solved!
