Smile Sligo dirt bike track

Hi, I'm 14 and I'm just starting to ride, I have a 90cc that I am currently fixing and I have a working 50cc mini scrambler, I really want to do a lot of driving but we have a tiny garden that I'm not allowed to drive on and im not aloud to drive on the roads and I don't know where else to drive, is Sligo track open and would they allow me in? I just want to practise riding on a track, anyone know? Thanks

Find a friendly farmer and ask can you rip around the perimeter of a field or two?

Re: Sligo dirt bike track

Most Farm Marts not doin any business on a Saturday / Sunday but the gates are open and I see very often people taking their younger family members down there to introduce them into the first steps of motoring.

No harm asking the manager of the mart for permission for a few hours driving on a saturday morning. At least you are covered if someone calls the law.

If you drive on private property with permission of the owner-me thinks without even knowing the law of insurance purpose-that it "might" be ok.

But yeah..good idea to get in touch with someone who knows the laws better than me.

I'm pretty sure you only need this if you going on main/public roads or sites, but on private land or other peoples land that allow you to be there I'm sure is fine.

Re: Sligo dirt bike track

The man ain't talking about motor vehicle insurance. He's talking about owners liability insurance. You will find it next to impossible to get anyone to allow you fly around their land on a motorbike because if anything happened to you, their insurance won't cover you,and then they are personally liabile. So basically you could as the yanks say "sue their ass". Head to a coillte forest....thats your best bet. Or a quiet beach.

Re: Sligo dirt bike track

Never thought about the owners liability issue tbh.
Quiet beach or coillte forest as green grass said would be your best bet.
If it's one of those noisy little chinese pit bikes and there's people living nearby,I'd be wary as well. People tend to get pissy if every Saturday or whatever somebody's tearing around for 2 or 3 hours shattering the peace and quiet.
Just something to be mindful of.
Hope ye find somewhere though, good luck.

Re: Sligo dirt bike track

You simply will not be given permission on private lands for reason as outlined by green grass.

If you should find a place it would need to be remote, that causes another problem, if you were injured in an accident or set upon by a gang how would you get help?

Yep, its private land though, you have to be invited by the owner, but you can give him a ring and ask if you can go around the track for a bit
